I have paid the second $2500 non-refundable deposit, and been contacted by phone on Sunday (Dec 9) about delivery.

Are you planning to drive it to a So Cal LEAF meet-up after the first of the year, just to make us all incredibly jealous (and more importantly, give us some touchy-feely time with a Model 3)?

Tony i see $5K for advanced AP - was that required? So many of us AP2 folk are disappointed with its ability to even match AP1 ....
I'm presuming all the hardware is already installed (like on our X - whether we paid for activation or not), it's just a matter of an OTA update?

Other than Paint and Wheels, EAP and FSD are the only options. All Current Teslas being built have AP2 (2.5 or 2.1) Hardware. Selecting EAP and FSD is simply software. If you get it when you order, it will be shown on the Monroney Sticker.

It wasn't required. It's an option. I chose it, but not FSD for $3000. That may never happen! And I have warned my hubby, whose car this will be, that my AP1 is still better atm than AP2. But he's just happy to get out of ICE

Just configured mine. I'm a Model S owner since 2013, I was in Mexico so I had to reserve online on March 31st just before the reveal.

Yes, my current Model S has AP1 (Mobile Eye). I’m pretty happy with that!

I suspect that Tesla will continue to improve AP2, so I’m not too worried about it. I didn’t have any Autopilot for the first six months that I had the Model S!

I think its awesome that Tesla is rewarding current X and S owners by letting them configure first and really hope all current owners get to configure before non-owners. Current owners helped build the company and gave Tesla to then means for the model 3. Its nice to see they are doing the right thing.

Do you have a VIN? When did they say delivery was? I also configured on 11/22 and paid deposit, and have a DS, but still no VIN.

My friend just got his email to configure today. She is not an employee, however, is a current Model S owner who stood in line on day 1 and lives in SoCal. Delivery scheduled for 4 weeks from now.

I think you may be right. I keep seeing something about no rain-sensing wipers, but since I only have AP1, I cannot compare the two other than that. Hope to be able to soon. Coming up on 4 weeks next week...but still no VIN.

6 weeks is a lot less than I expected. I thought it was over a year.

You could look at the Tesla web site. Model 3 says:

Reserve your Model 3 today for delivery in 12 to 18 months.

AWD are expected to be available sometime next year (that same page says Spring 2018 for AWD), so it wouldn't impact the delivery schedule for someone making a new reservation.

6 weeks is a lot less than I expected. I thought it was over a year.

The 6 weeks thing was mostly a joke, people with super late reservations got moved waaaaaaaaaay up because they were/are owners.

In general though I wouldn't assume you'd see a 2018 delivery.
