August/September VIN Notifications and Deliveries

Don't worry about the VIN being lower, it doesn't always mean it was built earlier. I got a 36xx VIN and build date is 8/20/2020, while other 36xx VIN build dates are in July. The VIN sequence has a few other factors such as the configuration. Ex, if you ordered with a tow hitch, you may have a low VIN as that configuration wasn't available until much later. This is my opinion based on some research when I freaked out of having a 36xx VIN. Ask your service advisor to find out the build date.
Mine was built on 8/15 and my VIN is 37K so it’s ok. But those taillights are great! Super bright only on Y’s made after 8/13.
 
I’ve read that after rejecting delivery Tesla treats your request for a new VIN as a new order - going to the back of the line - but haven’t been through it myself. Did Tesla clarify the reorder process for you?

I asked and didn't get any answer. My rep was very nice so if they knew I assume they would tell me. They said that they will call me as soon as they have an update and to make sure I check my emails, texts from Tesla. I assume they don't know either what back in the queue means.

Just had tomorrow's delivery pushed back. Rep said truck is delayed in midwest due to weather.

I took the opportunity to ask about the build date and was told 8/23 for my 36xxx. Guess I should have the amber lights.

Got mu delivery today. I'd say 99% perfect. Nothing that I could not live with, but I was assured all would be addressed:
1. Rear seats misaligned (omg, looks they didn't do it on factory at all almost everyone got it)
2. Small particle got painted (really you need to know were to look to find it)
3. Rear right door misaligned a little
4. Scratches on plastic undercover on rear bumper.

I really not bothered about #2 and #4 - in next 7 years it quite probably would be more "dents" to make a fuss about this.
#1 and #3 should be "easy fix" by mobile.

Anyway technician take a photo of all of them and mobile service scheduled next Tuesday (do not see how they would address #2 as it will require repainting imo and #4 as that require new plastic)
 
Crazy SC would not try to fix the bumper before you picked it up. Or maybe based on your rear seat issue SC never even looked at it.
Maybe. My delivery was scheduled on 10th, but they suggest to pick up today. Do not see reason in waiting. No guarantee they will look on it next 6 days it was sitting here.
I can "fix" misalignment by myself by getting another half one click up, but I agree that not good for a new car. Hopefully that would be fixed that way or another.

Inside was 100% perfect, I specially took my picky wife, even she was not complaining about condition :)

I wouldn’t worry about being in “the back of the line”. I can’t identify a rhyme/reason/pattern to this “line”. People ordering later, same build, same general area, get their vins/cars before me and others. I know I’m not the only one seeing people order after me and get vins before me.
So I don’t believe you should worry about going to the back, so to speak. And if you have a good delivery specialist, maybe they can get you a “rush” car.

Ordered MYP w/w, no-tow, no-FSD on 7/19... still waiting (Arizona).
Reached out to my SA today to share my frustration. Said they have no info but one matching my configuration was available in CA. He "offered" to have it shipped down here but would charge $2k extra for that and it would be here late next week. Honestly... wow. :mad:
 
Emailed Tesla yesterday asking about an updated status on my order as someone else in this form said they were picking up a car at my delivery location and I ordered before them. They said I have perfect timing and my car got assigned a VIN yesterday!

Order: 7/31/2020
VIN: 463xx
Delivery date: 19th Sept
Spec: MY LR AWD, MSM on White, 20”
 
Ordered 8/23, but decided to go from w/b to w/w today since VIN was not assigned on the web page. Called my rep and he said that VIN was actually assigned yesterday but not updated on the website and delivery date - 9/18. I still wanted to change the interior color (decisions decisions) and he did that, but warned that delivery might be pushed for one more week or so.

Asked about the assigned VIN out of curiosity and it was 46xxx. So looks like they are working to fill NE orders right now. Someone with w/b on order might be lucky to get one faster )

After reading your post, I just emailed my TA at Mt. Kisco and JUST received the phone call that I have a VIN!!!!

Update on my MY. Orde date 8/23. LR AWD MSM black interior, induction wheels and tow hitch. VIN 45xxx assigned on 9/2. Got the text today that my MY is in transit to my delivery center and to schedule delivery. Earliest delivery date option I had was 9/22, so I went ahead and scheduled for that date. Hoping that I’ll end up getting a text asking if I can come in earlier than the 22nd for delivery as I’ve been seeing that occurring quite a bit over the past week or so with other people peoples orders. Seems like a large gap between when my MY will get to the delivery center and my delivery date.
 
Just got a text message today for a tentative delivery date Sept 18. I emailed my tesla advisor and asked if he has any info on my VIN No.
