From what I had found from calling around, $6700 for PPF was normal (if anything it was cheap). I called about a dozen places.

But it was 5600 for the PPF for a full wrap
Yeah I have not got any of my previous vehicles any coating or PPF, I knew nothing. I asked a store they quote me $7000 for MY with Stek PPF(DYNOshield) including the whole exterior, interior, also outside of each windows and rims. I wondering anywhere else quotes.......

Let us all take a moment to mourn today, the day that all of the boats off Port Kembla with our Tesla's on them was originally slated to begin berthing. May the sweeping crew dedicated to Beth 106 be swift of sweep and deft at the tiller. From we who wait, our hopes are in your hands.

But seriously, how painful is delays when you think you are only a week away. I almost regret staying up to date.

I got this text yesterday, they must be getting closer to arriving at the MEL delivery centres.

Is it just me or has the retail cost of PPF increased given the number of Teslas on road. Has 10% of vehicle cost been standard or is this the new(ish) base Line now?
PPF in general is getting expensive due to material cost, logistics, staff, overall business running costs etc.

However, PPF are Teslas have a premium as most shops know a lot of Tesla owners gets PPF done and add a Tesla surcharge to them. In the last two years, many workers have left and opened their own shops specialising in PPF for Teslas and make a lot of money.

Thanks for update. It does appear Tesla owners are more conscious of protecting their investment - seems a bit exploitative - are they taking a leaf out of Qantas book???

Perhaps, or maybe it's just how supply and demand works for these things. I guess enough people are willing to pay that 10% surcharge that they can charge those numbers and still get a steady stream of customers. Also inflation. A 10% increase from where they were before would put it at about this amount.

Only 2-3 days from berthing if Vessel Daily Movements is to believed but yes better to not have checked until the car actually came 🤣.

Ceramic coating and PPF have become the new norm for a fresh, out of the delivery center, Teslas and some shops are taking advantage of that.
I do car detailing on the side. Yes, there’s a huge benefit in ceramic coating and PPF your car. It’s protects the paint and prevents stone chips.
I would at least recommend giving it a good compounding, polishing and ceramic coat the paint. This will improve the finish massively, keeps the car clean and makes the washing a breeze.

PPF is great and adds a thick layer to the base paint preventing it from stone chips but the cost of installing almost negates the benefits for some.

How much is the ceramic coating usually for a model 3/y?

A bottle of proper professional ceramic coating costs between $120-200 for businesses.
Here’s a link to CarPro’s ceramic coating. It’s one of the most popular ones individuals and professionals use.

Then you obviously have wash, decontamination, prep, removing swirls and scratches, polishing etc.

My quote with Exclusive Wraps in QLD was around $7000
That was for the Xpel Stealth which is the satin finish. (pic from imgur)

I've read on forums to take the wrap off every 4-5 years or it'll start melting onto the paint.

Thanks for sharing this!!
The quote from the store I asked, been told they provide 7 years warranty. I guess $7000 for interior + exterior + rims + windows PPF are quite fair price tho.

I'm also going down that path. Apparently the Stek has better gloss and hydrophobic property compare to many other competitions. Cost for me is $7500 in GST for full PPF, Ceremic coasting inside and outside on top of Stek PPF and tint. The cheapest I have found was $6500 for PPF in Brisbane which was suntek product.

Melting onto the paint?! Surely that shouldn't happen. This is the reason Im not going Vinyl wrap coz I dont want to rip it off after 3-5 years.
