Almost all manufacturers had AP at least some combination of it in certain models and trims of their vehicles. Autopilot is LKA, LCA, TACC, Lane Change Assist etc.

LKA, TACC, Autosteer has been in Mercedes vehicles since 2014.

While I enjoy the way Tesla is very nimble and allows consumers to try out what they are working on like NOA, it does not mean other manufacturers are idle not doing anything. They are very risk averse in terms of introducing features to consumers.

2014 Mercedes working on ADS.

2013 BMW Connected Drive ADS

Just to blow your mind, Toyota in the 90s had voice activated FSD capability. Lol

Not just Tesla but also iPhones were banned in certain government-controlled spaces as well. They'll have to work with local suppliers maybe or find other workarounds if special permission isn't given to them which who knows they might with Tesla having factories in China.
Yes they had some form of lane keeping, but it was not anywhere close to the capabilities of AP when it came to handling curves even by 2016. That was why there was so much excitement for AP back when it came out.
Discussion: HW.4 Suite - Availability, retrofit, suitability etc.

And as per the point, none of them had released something like NOA, which was what NGP emulated. So I think you are agreeing that there are things of value that would be very useful to XPeng back in 2018.

They freeze whenever there is someone very near it, for fear of injuring or killing the pedestrian. The liability, costs, and negative PR would be drastically higher if that happened versus even the entire car being totalled.

At this point, it's clear they also just freeze during any period of uncertainty, and await commands from remote operators.

FSD Beta is rumored to start rolling out in China soon, so perhaps we will see people trying in those areas:
Tesla is taking steps to launch FSD Beta in China

Last I checked, Tesla was using Baidu maps as their maps provider in China, which seems to be a subpar provider (most seem to be using Amap instead). Not that FSD Beta here necessarily does a good job of routing in the US (it seems it now uses Mapbox, which is subpar against the leaders like Google).

There are also recent issues in China with Teslas being banned from certain parking lots and data limitations. Article mentions Tesla is unlikely able to gather data relevant to FSD Beta for use for training in US based supercomputers. It's something they would have to work out (perhaps with a cluster in China itself).

Huawei announced that ADS 2.0 which will be released in December will now support all cities in the entire country and not just 45 cities.
This will make the Tesla FSD Beta and Huawei ADS 2.0 comparison videos even more interesting.

And their aspirations beat Zoox and nVidia? That article lost all credibility.

Don't be so quick to dismiss the ranking. It really depends on how you weight the different metrics. Zoox has driverless but it is only a few of their custom pod vehicles that only drive a 2 mile loop on their HQ campus and is only for employees so far. Tesla does not have driverless but they have 100,000s of vehicles using FSD beta with supervision everywhere in the US. And FSD beta is improving and, at least in theory could eventually become "eyes off" if the intervention rate gets good enough. So which is better? 4 driverless pods that only drive on a 2 mile loop with employees or 600k cars with self-driving that but requires driver supervision? I would put Tesla ahead of Zoox since the Zoox driverless is so limited. Zoox has not shown any ability to scale whatsoever. At least Tesla is testing FSD beta at scale, even if the software is not "eyes off" yet. And AFAIK, Nvidia does not have any AV deployments at all, they just have hardware and simulations and ADAS in some cars. So I would put Tesla which is testing FSD beta on 600k cars ahead of Nvidia.
