I just want to clarify on how fast they're making this happen, even with my indecisiveness:
15APR18: 3LRx | MSM | 19" | Black | EAP <- First Production order
27JUN18: 3LRD | MSM | 19" | Black | EAP
14JUL18: P3D- | PWx | 18" | Black | EAP
05AUG18: 3LRD | MSM | 18" | Black | EAP
10SEP18: P3D- | MSM | 18" | Black | EAP
12SEP18: P3D- | OBM | 18" | Black | EAP

Tesla wasn't kidding when they said Obsidian Black and Silver would be prioritized. I got my VIN four days after my final edit and I'm taking delivery 7 days after that.

This is quite interesting. Do you believe the color change to OBM is what sped up your VIN and scheduled delivery? Because I called Tesla last week and spoke with a very nice lady asking if changing my order from MSM to Silver would speed up the process, and after confirming with someone she said no. In fact, she said that would reset the process and likely delay my delivery. Very confusing to see you get a VIN four days after changing to OBM, but then again that could simply be a coincidence.

BTW you seem to change your mind a lot. :)

Received my VIN of 086XXX this morning. Shows on my Order Summary page right below my RN #. MVPA has not been updated yet. "VIN" bubble is now checked under my overview. Delivery scheduled for 9/22.

What did you order?

Everyone in these waiting threads probably ought to take a couple of minutes to add a signature with their ordered configuration, it's helpful for others who are waiting on their car.

So...I just got a call for delivery! But weird...

I literally ordered the car two weeks ago....on September 6 for a RWD, updated to AWD on September 12, and call for delivery on September 17!

Crazy right? This is a “re-order”, since I did get a RWD model 3 in June that Tesla is buying back, but they said that I had to order a new one and get in line, especially since I switched to AWD. But this is super fast....

Red, AWD (non-P), Black interior, sport wheels, EAP.

Um, why is Tesla buying back your original Model 3? Major issues with the car or what? If you had to sign an NDA then don’t violate it, just reply back that you don’t want to talk about that. Thanks!

Yep, much of it being driven by ignorance, paranoia and testosterone!

I switched mine to OBM also for the prioritization and the support lady told me the same thing but I decided to ignore it since they are given a script and have to say that. There's no reason why Tesla wouldn't clear all the OBM and Silver orders in one go.

Woops, my bad.

Yesterday was a roller coaster. Last week we had received the much anticipated call and our P3D+ would be ready for delivery as early as September 16. We are out of town and scheduled the delivery for this Friday September 21.

Waking up yesterday our my Tesla page had been updated with our VIN, MVPA, and payment info. It appeared everything was progressing toward our delivery on Friday.

Later in the morning we were investigating our VIN. The VIN decoder indicates that a P car should have the number 4 as the 8th digit. Ours is a B (std dual motor).

Just before lunch we received the dreaded call and were informed our car was in a transportation delay and the deliver date had to be changed to September 29. We asked about the VIN but the caller didn’t have an answer.

We ended the day disappointed about the delay and a bit apprehensive about the VIN.

So, I reached out to Tesla support today to ask about this trade-in vehicle title "stamp" that the OA told me their trade-in team needed. The agent was incredibly nice and told me that she had never heard of such a thing and said it would be best for me to speak with a Delivery Specialist as they're a lot more knowledgeable.

She checked and said there was no VIN assigned (delivery scheduled 9/24), but said that is not unusual with their new process and it now shows up 3-5 business day before scheduled delivery With no VIN there is no assigned Delivery Specialist. I'm right at the start of that window, so she said to call back on Thursday if I still haven't been contacted by a Delivery Specialist. In the meantime I'll follow up with the OA and his manager to see if they have any updates to provide since they are the ones who told me about this stamp requirement.

I'd really like to get the trade-in appraisal wrapped up so not knowing what is preventing that is kind of annoying. Either way I still plan on going to CarMax later this week just to get an comparative offer and I figure the later in the week the better in case delivery slips by a few days. I'm also in the process of getting securing better loan rates through Allegacy CU, and I'm not sure if I'll need VIN for that. Obviously a concern there would be the funds not being made available in time for Monday (9/24) delivery if I can't get approved until after the VIN is provided.

Never had to work this hard to give away 60K :D

The Model 3 P doesn’t have a designation for performance in the VIN, it’s just the dual motor “B.” Double edged sword, since insurance companies won’t ever know which one you got!

That's why it's really important to keep the window sticker for the car in the event the car is totaled and the insurance company wants to put up a fight about what features you paid for.

There are vin decoders online. I don't have a PAWD but, using my Prius as an example, performance would be a trim level. Or give me your vin and I'll give you back the formatted output.

Finally! Scheduled delivery of this Friday (9/21), VIN 966XX.

First contact by Tesla was yesterday email stating my car was ready for delivery on 9/8 (no not a typo). First option was delivery for 9/28 since I was already outside the initial 7-day period, but then they were able to bump it up a week. Here's to hoping that it is spotless seeing how it's been there for at least 10 days.

Very easily could have been a case where the car was there for another buyer who had a last minute problem that prevented delivery. In fact, I'd say that's likely based on the VIN and when they said it was available.

If there is a way to get the count of all M3's registered across the nation in various DMV's , we can get a sense, how much has been built to date , how many sold/regd and how many sitting in various parking lots/and in transit. Sounds like quite a bit is in inventory and not much news coming out like earlier with photos of parking lots loaded with M3s... sounds like Tesla might have got smart and spread the inventory across the notion to hide it from shorts :)

Just got a call from Tesla that my car is stuck in Oakland and will likely be delayed more than a week. I was scheduled to pick up tomorrow morning so I'm a bit shocked. I know they're having logistical struggles, but to tell me the day before seems like horrible customer service. Now I might have to wait two more weeks? I'm almost reaching my end with all the struggles and delays and in combination of people who ordered their AWD much later getting theirs much earlier. Ugh, very frustrated and obviously venting right now....
