2023 M3P here and can confirm car has PWS and boombox.

That's interesting! The speaker wasn't physically present in previous cars (eg my 2021 Model 3).

If you don’t have the app I don’t think it matters whether the speaker is there or not, as there’s no way to unlock it sadly.

Well if we take the comment by @TrevRex as true, you should be able to hear it when doing the lightshow. I'm not sure if anyone else has confirmed the same (presence of speaker, but not used for low speed warning or boombox), so its possible he got a unicorn, or could be mistaken.

DK about the US. It available for retrofit in Aust starting now. Was going to be installed Mon but guy rang me and said waiting for the part to arrive in Sydney. I want to say "Luke, I am your father"

Only 'when the vehicle is in Drive, Neutral or Reverse mode.' as it could make it not compliant with the requirements for PWS/AVAS in the US.

There is no mandate or requirement for PWS/AVAS in Australia - yet.

Yeah I bought a PWS isolater a bit over 3 years ago as I thought we might have it in Australia... then pulled apart the front area of the car where the speaker was to find there was no speaker there on the 2019 Model 3's

This technology allows EVs to produce an external sound, alerting vulnerable road users, including pedestrians and cyclists, to their approach - thereby decreasing the risk of a collision.
This is particularly important for the blind and low-vision community, whose members rely on sound to negotiate the road network independently.

I would like to get the coconut sound from Monty Python.
However I did visit that federal submissions site and submitted my opinion that adding artificial sound pollution to most cars on road in the next few decades is not a good solution and they should look for other options such as technology to alert drivers if there are people who are in danger of stepping in front of the car.

From a few posts in FB the $290 refits and the 2023 cars are only getting partial PWS/AVAS.

Yes you get Boombox, and external fart noises
Yes you get reverse warnings.

But seemingly Aus doesn't get the low speed forward driving sounds.

But also based on a few posts in FB it seems the 2023 ones delivered with Boombox / PWS *do* have low speed forward driving AVAS - it's the retrofitted ones that don't. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Tesla told me that a retrofit wasn't yet available for my 2021 MIC SR+ (June build with 55kwh LFP and performance motor). Has anyone with the same model been able to get it yet?

Same here for 2022 M3P "not available for your particular vehicle yet, we are looking into making this available in the near future"
