Can’t see a thread already. Apparantly the new China M3s over the past few days are coming with the boom box speaker installed and working. Tesla service centres have confirmed they will retrofit them in all M3s for free but take that with a pinch of salt.

You beat me to it, literally just seen a couple of vids of this on the Tesla Model 3 UK Owners FB group - was gonna post!
The boom box. Software is on the screen for it and lots of different sounds. I wonder if leased cars will be allowed it.

Sorry to be ignorant but is the Boombox a capability to play media over an exterior speaker or speakers possibly loudly and possibly when the car is stationary? Or is it just another way of describing a pedestrian warning noise - which as I understand it would be relatively low volume, fixed sound and only when the car is moving at low speed.
It's just the former.. it doesn't replace PWS or horn and really the only thing it has to do with it is it uses the PWS speaker. It apparently also plays inside the car.
'boombox' is fairly descriptive if you think of cars in the 80s with loud speakers that could be heard outside the car.
Leasing companies often restrict the purchase of post delivery options, normally available to purchase in app - FSD, EAP, Acceleration Boost, Heated Rear Seats.
You can negotiate with your leasing company to allow the direct purchase of these options, but you are at their mercy.
I can confirm that I can now make a Fart sound on the external speaker!

A few people have phoned their SCs up and are waiting for confirmation. One of them is the SC near me. I will ask them if I can have it done if it’s a goer. I’m sure the lease company won’t notice or will they get the invoice?
I made myself look like an idiot on the FB thread because I pointed out that it was PWS that was available, and people were conflating that with Boombox - which is illegal in the UK. But, as said above, turns out that Tesla don't care lol.

Nothing to say it won't be removed in future but if it helps the retrospective take up of the PWS in the interim then its a positive.
It's no different to having the stereo on too loud.
