Quick update. Took delivery last week on Friday with some minor issues (scratch on front bumper, scuff on driver side interior door) so scheduled a service appointment for this Thursday to have them fix the delivery issues and install homelink. Got a call from them yesterday saying they are switching appointment from service center (I’m in Los Angeles and would have been a bit annoying to go drop off) to mobile unit for the same day. Love that they proactively did that. Absolutely love this car!

Which is why I’m picking up locally instead
I asked for Local Pickup and the SA told me that since I am within 30miles they dont even give me the option for pickup. I didnt push/press to hard on it, but in any event before I accept delivery they assured me I can still fully reject the vehicle if needed or coordinate service appointment to address any issues.

We will see tomorrow - got a call it is scheduled for home delivery tomorrow and

Oh so technically you can still reject delivery after they’ve dropped it off? I thought once they dropped it then it would be accepting delivery. Did you give the final payment already?

With home delivery you won't be able to see inside before accepting. You can inspect the outside but it will not let you open the door unless you accept delivery.
That is correct - and again they didn't give me the option upon asking if I could pick it up at Burbank. It's literally about 15miles from my house and regardless told me they are only offering Home delivery given the proximity.

any issues with the car worth sharing?
Nothing major. I'm pleasantly surprised with the lack of panel gaps and the build quality overall. I know someone with a 2018 M3, and someone else with a 2019, and to me I can see a clear improvement in general build quality (but then again I'm biased because it's my car 😆). FWIW my car has the new console and heated steering wheel.

An interesting aside: I was told that the Rocklin center (where I took delivery) was doing 49 deliveries yesterday alone! I can't imagine how many Fremont is doing.

I just spoke to the delivery specialist at Seaside and she told me they are doing 80 deliveries this week! And Seaside is a small SC.

Hello Everyone,

I have been enjoying the information on the site and decided that I would stop lurking!

I put my order in on 2/6/2021 (First Tesla!)

Model Y
Long Range AWD
Deep Blue Metallic
20" Induction Wheels
All Black Interior
5 Seater
No Tow Hitch
Base Autopilot

I haven't received a VIN number yet. I am in the Santa Cruz area. Has anyone in the Area received a VIN lately?
I order the MY 7 seater, white ext, black int, no FSD or other modifications on 2/13/21... still zero communication from Tesla. Have you taken delivery?

Daddy Chill is home.
Went to the Irvine garage. Spoke to a guy he said you have to accept delivery before you can look inside the car.

Told him my friend, aka someone on the tesla forums, was able to look inside his car and inspect it in Buena park before he accepted it. He looked up my name and said ok, and then took me to the car, removed the key cards and said I can inspect it and when I'm done come back to him for the keys.

I wish they had a policy on this because I for sure wanted to see the car before paying $60k.
Not only that, a super old nice innocent guy was buying a new model 3. They didn't want to give him a paper receipt saying that he paid. Come on now. Just give him what he wants! haha

Anyways, need to do a deep clean car wash. NO exterior issues that I am concerned about just the passenger handle is too deep inside the door and needs to get adjusted . OLD headlights. Double paned glass. Heated Steering wheel. New console, pedestrian speaker, that only turns on in reverse??... What else...?

Interior, smudges everywhere but came out. Overall no issues. But one which I'll probably make a post about right now.

SO HAPPY

At the pickup location I went to, Knotts Soak City parking lot, the employees were super cool. They appeared to have no issue with anyone examining their prospective vehicle without having to accept delivery first. No pressure. They opened the doors and walk away. I had a couple questions, they were super quick to come over and spend time with me. It really was a fantastic experience.
