Sorry but that is not a requirement except in Texas. You should have had your bank give you a cashiers check to take to the delivery. That way the funds would still be in your hand. Is this your first car purchase?

Maybe you should have considered joining this site before you paid for the car and read the stories on here. Everyone is warned not to prepay for the car.
A cashiers check is NOT an option in Charlotte as they legally cannot sell a car. They can deliver but not sell. That said I had my money in checking and after seeing the car I wired to Tesla, in hindsight a simple 2 minute task.

I'm in a holding pattern...Charlotte SC is waiting to see if they're getting the car back from the body shop this morning/afternoon, then will let me know.

So as of the scheduled time, it looks like Delivery appointment #5 is a no go...
Man, that sucks. Maybe you will get some good news; you never know. All I can picture is the body shop people driving your car around saying how great it is. LOL

Got clarification today — Charlotte will not longer be doing in person pick ups (according to my delivery specialist in Vegas). So my appointment for next Saturday is cancelled, now waiting to hear on home delivery. Hoping it’s next Friday (9/28), but no guarantee.

VIN disappeared from my site, financing looks messed up now. Feel like I got so (so) close. Now I’m back in the waiting period...

apparently NC is now a home-delivery-only state...which is just weird, I can't imagine how that's not significantly more expensive and less efficient than delivering at service centers (even if it means Raleigh needs to find a new parking lot)

On top of that now if it's good enough to accept delivery but still needs some stuff fixed you're going to be going to the SC anyway to have them handle it.

Yep. I was also told the new standard for NC is home delivery. You will have a couple of days to report any issues, and then you can schedule time to have any issues corrected. I keep telling myself that we are the testers for Tesla learning how to do mass deliveries. This forum is a great place to share our experiences, however, also share those with Tesla. I have, and will continue, to give them any feedback I have about this whole process. I want them to succeed.

Email response from my delivery associate:

Hello Randy,

Thank you for reaching out to me about this. Yes, both Charlotte and Raleigh are moving to Home Delivery. I’m still trying to see what that means for those who are already scheduled. I’ll let you know when I have more information. Also, I’ve attached the Trade In offer to this email. Let me know if you would like to accept or deny this!

Well, delivery was scheduled for today at 12:30 PM, and that didn't happen.

BUT...I got a call from my ISA in Vegas, around 2:45 PM, saying the car was ready, and I could pick it up at 5 PM today, or have it delivered to my home, by around Friday....

Of course, I left the house about 15 minutes later, to make the 135 mile trek up to Charlotte. We got there, and saw more Model 3's than I thought possible, in one lot...had a seat and waited on our guy to come out.

I was one of 2 folks there, picking up their car. We had all the time in the world, to look it over, but I couldn't find a thing wrong with it. We even looked over where the original scratch on the passenger door, was. Nothing there, now.

After 5 delivery attempts, and nearly a month of delays, I began to wonder if the car was even going to be worth the effort......

You bet your behind it is! This car is simply amazing, no other way to put it. I'm having a hard time getting used to the regen aspect of slowing down, but I'll get there...

Fantastic! Glad to see it finally happened, and they did a great job correcting the issues. My new delivery is Wednesday, so hopefully they did as good a job on mine as they did yours. Now don’t just disappear from the forum. Keep us posted every once in a while on your experience.

Well my delivery advisor called today to reschedule my post storm appointment. So delivery is scheduled for Thursday, 9/20. He mentioned home delivery but I insisted on picking up at the Charlotte service center... Wait for it... Because my photographer friend is joining for pictures.

Never been married but I think the events are pretty similar, no? Haha

End of quarter push. It costs less to use a 3rd party delivery service, than it does to hire 15-20+ employees to handle on site deliveries, only to lay them off when the quarter ends.

It makes a lot of sense to me, now.
I don't see how this is more effective or how it would cost less than the delivery days they were doing with 50+ deliveries in a day. Seems they could lever up their current staffing with increased hours (at overtime), and not have to go to a contract labor model, or hire and exit additional staff. I think they should pick a handful of "brand ambassadors" from their owner ranks to come in on a weekend and help educate owners on their newly delivered vehicles....offer a supercharging incentive or something. I would sign up for that!

I'd love to see the math where:

Hiring a 3rd party to pick up a car in a truck, drive it hours away, and deliver it to a customer, is cheaper than:

Hiring a 3rd party to deliver a car to a customer where the car already is located to start with, to a customer who comes to the dealership where the car is.

Because in example one each 3rd party person hired can deliver a smaller number of cars in a day (because a chunk of their day is eaten by driving around, and they're limited to what fits on the truck), and at a higher cost to do so (since they have the cost of the truck and the fuel to run it, plus few cars delivered per hour is a cost), by any figuring I can come up with.
