still quite the PITA when we have a big ol' computer and monitor right there in the car already attached to these files... is my thinking.
I agree !

I guess I have you beat. I've had the problem at dusk with no direct sun. And at least once while driving.Interesting finds after 2 weeks with this problem, after all troubleshooting failed (same on 2019.8.3):
1. Only happens when car not moving.
2. Only happen when camera facing the sun.
Never at night or while driving!

A single camera uses 1.8GB of space (30MB/minute, 60 minute running buffer)... if you saved a 10 minute clip you'd already be out of space.
The update enables 2 side cameras, so you require a minimum of 5.6GB just for the 1 hour dashcam buffer, let alone saved clips, let alone anything sentry mode is doing.
8GB would be the bare minimum if you don't intend to use Sentry mode at all. 16-32GB could easily fill up in one day of Sentry Mode use if you park somewhere with a lot of foot traffic.
Was it already recording 3 cameras simultaneously before you updated? From what I've seen, just the TeslaCam while driving will use more than 2GB even if you never use Sentry Mode.
In fact the TeslaCam is always recording when the car "on" even if the car is parked. Last time I looked at mine, the full hour of video was just recordings of my garage from when I was playing with the car and whatever.
Yes, though I’m not sure if the side cameras and Sentry were at the same time or quickly in succession. So recently there has been an update with two side cameras and then Sentry mode?
I’ve been out of the loop on Tesla updates so maybe you can help clarify for me. The update with the front camera I had used my 2GB flash drive and worked great.

Tried out Sentry for the first time today while parked in a very quiet provincial park lot. Just spent a good chunk of my evening wading through dozens and dozens of 1 minute long video clips of - for the most part - absolutely nothing. Finally found a batch of clips of a family pulling up alongside the car and peering inside, pointing & waving at the cameras, etc. However, like others on this thread, a significant amount of the left repeater clips are corrupt and cannot be played.
Was on 5.15 (just updated tonight to 8.4).
Let us know of 8.4 resolves any of the corruption issues.
Model X owner here. 2019.8.3. Definitely having Left Repeater green bands and 0byte files. Very annoying.
The funny thing is the inconsistent time stamps. The file names are coded with the correct local time. But the file created / modified time is 11 hours behind, which is the Greenwich Mean Time. Go figure.........
