I picked up my car today (28 full days after placing the order; today was the 29th). This was even when paying $2000 to have it brought from MA to NJ, as I was told I could not pick-up from MA. Still trying to see if I have some recourse here. $2000 for 200 miles was hard to swallow, but $10 a mile, plus having to wait 28 days is even worse.

Almost
everything was fine.

Some of the issues:

- two visible scuffs on the front bumper, driver's side (not visible in the pictures, as that side was omitted; deep enough to make it impossible to fix with touch-up paint)
- quite a bit more wear than expected to the driver seat leather (also not included in pictures)
- a smallish scratch on the leather on one of the back seats (also not shown in pictures)
- the car was not cleaned on the inside (or if it was, it was a while ago). They did a quick wipe down at the delivery center after I pointed it out. I was under the impression that the used cars where now detailed, but not refurbished. Apparently their are not detailed either.
- on the exterior the car had some sap residue and some tiny (wall?) paint drops all over, which made it difficult to tell where the rock chips where. Took a while to look over, but there were only a few actual chips.

Apart from that, it had some small rock chips (not too many, not significant and not in easy to spot places anyway), which I consider normal wear and tear for the age of the car (2015 Model S 85D).

All in all, no big surprises at pick-up, although I still have to get it cleaned inside and out.
That’s strange you weren’t allowed to pick it up in MA. I’m waiting to pick mine up. The delivery advisor told me Friday he’d have all the paperwork to me in an hour and he said the car’s ready for delivery. Still waiting! 10 days since I put down the deposit. The care is 5 hours away so it’d be nice to start making some plans!

Are you a MA resident? They told me I could only pick it up from MA if I am a resident.

they cancelled on me for today for a delivery appt. today. Need to reset the car and service doesn't work Sundays! Funny thing is one caller was calling to confirm and my call waiting for the cancellation.

Well I guess the California delivery specialist wasn't telling the truth when he told me they were not going to schedule any deliveries until they had completed inspection. Unbelievable they don't learn or care to learn from their mistakes.

They are supposed to clean and wash the car. They should also take care of any damage that wasn't included in the photos.

They told me the same thing about Mass. Has to be shipped.

Thanks for the feedback Robert. Should this be discussed with the delivery specialist in CA? Or is there a separate department looking into these sort of complaints?

And I just got a message (doesn’t stay on while driving) on the dash with “vehicle coolant low”. I’ll have to see what that is about, might be a glitch, but if not, this is not something they should have missed in the inspection.

is battery coolant an ez replacement or is that a considered a maintenance/wear and tear item?

Not sure. I’ll check with service today. But even if it’s a “consumable”, it still should not be showing as low after driving it just 100 miles. I think they even mentioned that they checked the fluid levels at the delivery center. It was a the same time they looked at the tire pressure and tire thread.

Picked up my car yesterday, ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!!!

My pickup was in San Diego @ 10AM. Here is a little insight on the entire pickup to give insight to future buyers and my opinion on my Tesla vs my Panamera GTS.

I was immediately greeted by Joey, my delivery specialist who out of all of the people I've interacted thus far at Tesla, was by far the best. He was fantastic. He talked to me about the process, reassured me that I had two keys and the car was 90% charged and super charging was enabled. Then he walked me over to my vehicle, which looked amazing from first sight.

He then let me inspect the car, it was freshly detailed and looked great. It wasn't a showroom detail that you would pay $300+ for, but it looked very nice. My car being the red multi coat, had some areas that were touched up prior, and some areas that I will have to purchase and touch up. The car is used being a 2015 so I was prepared for a used vehicle and not a new one. Overall, the exterior I would give it a 8.5. One of the parking sensors was a little damaged, but Joey had a due bill created which included a new parking sensor and a free alignment as he said their alignment machine was down for the day. The 21" wheels had ZERO curb rash which was fantastic. The Interior with the Next Gen seats looked near new. No signs of any excessive wear. He then helped me setup the basics, my slacker account, the comfort access on the seats, and showed me my charging cables and adapters. Test drove the car around the block and gave him the thumbs up and I was on my way!!

Drove the car around 300 miles so far, overall I LOVE IT!! The previous Tesla I drove did not have the Next Gen seats, these are a huge upgrade. I bought this car to be my commute as I live in LA and work down in the Long Beach Area.

Quick comparison between these and my Porsche Panamera, I have the Panamera GTS which is a beautiful car, and I absolutely love it. Having said that, for a commute like mine, this wins all day long. Auto Pilot while on the freeway works like a charm, the huge navigation is better than mine on my Porsche. The steering is different and in the Panamera you feel much more in control of the vehicle while driving aggressively. I love the exhaust note on my Porsche but I also love the quietness on my Tesla. I do not think I would give up one for the other, and being a huge Porsche enthusiast I will have to say, IF I was only able to have one vehicle and was more concerned with being financially responsible, I would go with the Tesla.

However, I think the best combo for me is a Tesla for my commute, and then a sportier car like my Porsche for the evenings / weekends. I bought the P85D over the P100D to get myself into a Tesla and see if I liked it enough, and I'm convinced. I already can see myself giving this one to my parents at the end of the year and getting myself a P100D next year.

at delivery inspection I asked where the fog light option was. The delivery specialist didn’t know. I sent the CPO specialist the option sticker that clearly says fog lights are on the option list and their response was that I could pay to have the lights retrofitted but the option didn’t come with the car.

I sent the sticker again, circled “fog lights” and now they are ignoring me.

Any suggestions?

Stellar customer service :)

I have an update on the coolant issue. I have to bring the car in and the earliest appointment they had was Jan 30th in Brooklyn (at least an hour away from me without traffic). I did insist on mobile servife for this but first reply was it’s not possible. Asked again, waiting on reply. For reference, Paramus and Springfield were giving dates for end of March, for service appointments.

As of today the warning message stays on constantly. I voiced my concern about having to wait another 2 weeks as this is my daily driver. Hopefully this won’t cause additional issues.

The car seems to be fine with this so far.

You need to I insist on an immediate appointment. I go to the Brooklyn service 4pm tomorrow for an appointment. You can tell them that you can have my appointment. I have some issues, but yours sounds more serious.

I keep going back and forth with the CPO specialist at Tesla about the missing fog lights. She keeps wanting to have Tesla install LED headlights when my car (2014) didn’t come with LED headlights. Just install the fog lights!! They’re really not very knowledgeable and I don’t know why we keep going back and forth when I provided her the option sheet.
