Interesting.. I ordered on 5/15 and my SA gave me a rough estimate of last full week in June. I'm on the north east coast.
I think they will try their damndest to get as many cars out by the end of June but considering the rumors of already selling out their manufacturing capacity 3 weeks ago, I would say anyone who's ordered in May and beyond could be at risk of not seeing them till July or beyond.

Well last weekend at this time we were hopeful that people would receive VINs or delivery this week.
Now here we go again another week later and still no action. Will it happen this week?
I suppose for some SCs, they are going to have to release deliveries soon or they will be out of lot space to store more cars if additional are being shipped, that is unless they negotiate lot space somewhere else. The local lot in Cincinnati is about 80% full. If Tesla doesn’t have a fix soon, the cars yet to be delivered may have to stay in Fremont until space opens up.

edit: Also, I counted over 100 MYs on the lot in Cincinnati. Figure an average of $50-$55k per car, they have over $5M sitting on that lot alone. Not getting these cars sold before 7/1 is going to have a huge impact on Tesla’s Q2 earnings.

Right. I predict they will stay in Fremont until space opens up. If they don't have a fix this week, then something major must be wrong.

The store leader at my location in Bloomington IL sent me pics and also gave me my VIN of my vehicle that arrived from Fremont last week , but said until the firmware is completed it won’t appear on my account online. He also said there is no eta.

Made a stop at the Smithtown, NY dealership today. Barely any customers there and definitely no delivery pickups were made while I was there (and it’s a sunday)! Nonetheless, saw 50+ Model Ys on the lot. Didn’t examine all of them obvs but the few I did had April manufacturing dates on them. They still had most of their plastic on them from the factory and a bunch of dust lol. At this point there’s no denying that Tesla is doing some type of update, otherwise these babies would be on the road. The SAs I spoke to were super cool. They told me end of the quarter is gonna be crazy: 80+ hr workweeks with ~100 deliveries a day. They said they prob won’t even have time to do any test drives for new customers because of the rush.

I order on 5/13: MYLR, white on black, 20” wheels, no FSD or tow. My biggest worry is that if I don’t take delivery by 6/30 is that I lose out on the New York EV Rebate which is BS because Tesla still has it on their site.

The SAs actually didn’t confirm anything about update issues but it’s pretty obvious. Why would any of this be happening otherwise? Would there be 50 MYs in the lot for fun haha

Took a test drive too and it made me excited all over again. We’re all gonna be getting the best car in the world. I’ve driven exotics beforehand and there’s just something about Tesla that goes above and beyond. This thing is a toy. It’s great.

What do you guys think?

I called the Dublin, CA SC and spoke with a delivery a specialist. We talked for (and I'm not kidding) almost 30 minutes. He was awesome and answered a ton of my questions. He said he's been with Tesla for almost five years and has gone through all of this multiple times. Here's what I learned:
  • In general, they are expecting most CA deliveries to occur the second half of June. What happens is most of the cars that are made in April and May go international and east coast. Beginning of June is midwest and west (not counting California), and then last 2 weeks are typically California. He did say though that they will hold cars in almost all areas of the US till June (what we're seeing now)
  • They do get small batches of cars (like they do now) but they have no control over the config. From what I saw in Dublin, they were mostly white cars (didn't look to close when I was passing yesterday). He said those will probably be delivered in the next 1-2 weeks and priority will be the config, order date, and whether or not all of your delivery info is complete and submitted.
  • For Dublin, CA specifically, if you live within 30 miles, they will almost for sure all be home deliveries. They don't have the capacity to handle the amount of deliveries they're expecting and it's actually easier for them to do home deliveries
  • He said it super important to be ready to take delivery within 3 days of getting the text and/or phone call once you've been hard matched to a VIN. Their system of matching is automated and it will un-assign you after three days if you don't confirm delivery and have your final payment/financing in place
  • In regards to payment, if you're doing 3rd party financing and they are mailing the check to Tesla, he suggested having your loan office physically take a picture of the check and send you that and the tracking number. They can release the vehicle to you even if they haven't received your payment yet but only if you provide them with those two things. Otherwise you have to wait till Tesla receives the check and confirms final payment
  • If you're putting a down payment separately from your financing, that must be done online. You cannot bring a personal check on delivery day
  • He mentioned nothing about a firmware update and I didn't ask -- especially after learning what I said above. This really does seem par for the course for the most part.
In a nutshell, if you're in California, don't expect your car till the second half of June. There will be exceptions to this but most won't get it till then. This actually helped me a lot as I feel like I don't have to check the web site every (okay, multiple time a) day. My expectations are set now at getting it by the end of June and I'm fine with that.

So this is the current rates for NFCU, off the app itself. (I already bank with them).

if you qualify for the direct deposit/active duty account, you get .25% off whatever the best rate you qualify for. So yeah..2.19% - .25% discount… 1.94%
Yup, I stand corrected. I don't dd to my NFCU account, so I don't qualify for the extra .25%. My current NFCU car loan is like 4% (72 months,) originated in 2019 before the last economic slowdown. But still, only ~$2 / month for the amount I would finance. Not sure what Tesla / Chase would ask for to prove a better rate from NFCU / PenFed - I don't feel like applying all over town and spiking my credit monitoring service, lol.

I’m also hoping to take delivery by 6/30 due to the changing NYS rebate and losing $1,500 of it. =\

Helpful, but it is 100% not par for the course to have 50 Ys sitting on a lot and wait until June to deliver them. EOQ is always a crush, no matter what, but the issue is firmware and they won’t “just decide to deliver them” - they legally can’t because of the homologation. It’s a mess, but I do think they will get it figured out by mid June.

I agree but I also don’t think they’d be delivering hundreds of cars per SC per day either at this point. If you look at the tracking spreadsheet, there are small waves of deliveries the first 2 months of a quarter but it’s nothing compared to the final month.
