Enhanced Summon coming (Elon tweet 6 Apr, 2019)

I don't know what the proper thread to ask this is.
But who do you think lied to you, about what?

You mean that schedules slip, and features get
redefined? If you work in any high tech field, you
know that nobody can can accurately predict
either, it's just how it is.

If you use the word "lied" you must mean ill will,
deliberate deceit. Where do you see that w/ Tesla?

This is a Tesla-oriented forum. I'm amazed at the
negatives. I can't imagine being Musk, with all the
deception and crap the petroleum industry and the
big car companies and the foreign competitors throw
at Tesla, looking here, seeing all this negativity,
and not just giving up.

You make tools? How would you feel if you were
working on a totally new and better tool, and all
you saw was people calling you a con, harping on
your timing, what your improvements cost or what
exact features you're putting in and when?

You know, it would really be a dumb disaster if
after all this, America drove Tesla into the ground.
Sheesh, he built a damned CAR company from
scratch and even delivered on that $35k EV. And
where would that leave us? And the US tech lead?

Maybe this country loves being led into a pit, and
what its major enemies are cooking up for it.
I hope I'm dead by then and don't have to watch it.

I am really glad that you wrote this. It mirrors a lot of what I feel.

At the rate it’s going America isn’t going to make it.

So if the latest iteration of Smart Summon (the most recent name I’ve seen Elon use for it) is getting re-released to Early Access next week I suppose the rest of us may realistically get this by the end of July. Excuse me while I will continue to not hold my breath :D

Wow, I hit a nerve. You spun this so hard I'm leading Tesla and all of America into a disastrous pit?

FSD was not more expensive after I purchased the vehicle - it was cheaper.
Tesla stated FSD owners would be invited to Early Access program and then quickly rescinded that.

So yes - I love my car. I love what Tesla is doing. Myself and others were lied to. I'm not shoveling FUD across the internet, in fact, I confine my complaints to communities of fellow owners so as not to sway future buyers.

Carry on with your Tesla worship.

Am I the only person driving a M3 Tesla who loves the car, who's
delighted using the NOA & AP automation, and respects Elon Musk?

I don't really care when specific capabilities are rolled out, for one
simple reason: the car has been miraculous, at every step da way.

Elon gets a lot of respect. Tons of it. And there is nothing wrong with it. And its well deserved.

That does not mean that its wrong to call him out when his promises don't come to fruition.

Yes, but it is going back to Early Access again. I wonder if that means that Tesla made significant changes? Why else would they send it back to Early Access again?

The non-early builds ended up surpassing the early access builds in some of the desirable features like on route battery warm up, lane departure, noa, etc. My guess is they integrated the enhanced summon to a more recent build and then will re-release it so that the early access build still has the latest released features. I would be surprised if summon is substantially improved.

Ok.

What did Elon promise?

Is Advanced summon rolling out to next week?

1. Early Adopters?
2. People on the Beta Tester list?

Ultimately ( once it fully rolls out ). Who is getting Advanced Summon ( Teslas website - today shows Summon is a FSD feature )?

1. AP owners?
2. FSD owners?

Lastly.

Can someone purchase FSD without owning AP?

... If you use the word "lied" you must mean ill will,
deliberate deceit. Where do you see that w/ Tesla?...

I’m not mad at Tesla and I like my car. But For the past three months, the description for FSD on tesla.com includes:
  • Summon: your parked car will come find you anywhere in a parking lot. Really.
That feature is not listed as available later this year, but as available now. What do you call it if for three months and counting, a seller claims something as being available now when it clearly isn’t? Does that qualify as deliberate deceit? I think many of us just brush that aside as Tesla being Tesla and give them a pass. But to some others, that’s a lie.

I thought Advanced summon is currently limited to 150 feet.

That's what all of the videos said.

Tesla listed it as available now because Enhanced Summon was scheduled for a public release but was pulled at the last minute for additional revisions. It's not a lie if you were really planning to release something but then have to change that release at the last minute. Now, I guess Tesla could have changed the wording on the website when the timeline for Enhanced Summon slipped but since Tesla is so close to releasing Enhanced Summon, they probably figured there was no point in updating the website, only to update it again, when it is released again. Such quick changes to the website would only confused owners.

@Chewy3 you're not leading America into a pit. America's
getting sucked into a pit of discord and self-flagellation by
a lot of powerful actors. Some do it for power, self-interest,
others for their national strategic reasons. And I'm horrified
to see good people get conned into hating and nitpicking.

In context, Tesla doesn't need worship, it needs
our support and respect, as do our institutions.
Because it's of strategic importance to our survival.

I have my own quarrels with how Tesla has managed
its Model 3 pricing and rollout, but there's no way I'd
call that "lying". I'm not impressed with how Boeing
rolled out the anti-stall on the 737X, it was a mistake,
and not a diabolical plot. Tearing Boeing and Tesla
down only weakens us. And we're at the point where
it matters.

ALL of the features on a software project like Tesla's
are subject to being pulled upon finding bugs, being
re-introduced into alpha then beta phases, and pulled
again. That's the way software is. And it's the right way.
Nobody's "lying".
