I'm having an issue with a used Tesla purchase located on ev-cpo. I have attached the spec sheet and I have the matching order agreement if it would help. I put a deposit down on a P100D Ludicrous and now I'm being told that it's actually a P90D. My initial order and the initial response email both confirmed the correct specs. I got suspicious when I finally saw the pictures of the car with a p90d badge on it and I was informed that they were going to put a P100D badge on it for me after delivery. But at the same time they were saying it had a 100 kwh battery. I just checked my Tesla order online and it was changed to a P90D today. I am requesting that they find a unit which matches the correct specs and fulfill my order as agreed upon.
If you have any advice please let me know. The price was $67k and I have put down a deposit.

It appears to be a 100kWh battery and trim package, I don't know why it would be badged as a P90D, unless it was upgraded at some point to a 100kWh battery but they didn't update the badge.

Perhaps you can get a photo of the battery label from underneath the car, or ask for a photo of the range charged to 100%.

I'm also linking all the real images from the listing, as maybe there are some clues there (they all say P90D).

Other than that, I'm not sure what to suggest to make sure it's what you want.

The Ludicrous upgrade was already listed on the build sheet so I'm assuming it was paid for. They are telling me that somehow the wrong details got tied to this vin number. In my mind it is their obligation to install a 100kwh battery and do the upgrade or find me a car that has equivalent specs. They said the current charge range on this battery is 265 miles so it's obviously a 90kwh. I do appreciate the advise. I'm probably going to start a BBB complaint and talk to my lawyer on Monday if Tesla can't resolve it.

I think this will hopefully the logical outcome for you. I seriously doubt that they would upgrade the battery pack in a used car. It does seem like they've gotten themselves into quite a pickle with a data error on this car. What does your MVPA say about dispute resolution?

Good idea, I had not looked into the MVPA. I was going to see if a JAG at my base legal office could help.

There were a few cars upgraded after delivery to P100D from P90D - there's a thread on here somewhere about a guy who had it done, and from memory they changed the battery and the seats. This car is fairly close to the window of when that could happen (my personal car is a P90D and a few thousand past that Vin and one of the last). I think the situation occurred if your car had been built but you'd not taken delivery when they announced the P100D to prevent delivery being rejected, although it wasn't easy to get it done. It seems a bit odd that they would do all that and forget the badge but stranger things have happened.

A relatively easy way to help check is if you have a picture of the seats, pretty sure the P90D only ever had next gen seats and not the current/later design, and certainly if the ventilated seats mentioned in the spec is correct they will not be next gen.

Thanks, they did check the range on the car and it is 265 miles with a full charge. Maybe there was a plan to upgrade the battery but it never happened. The seats are definitely the premium vented ones.

Thanks for your subscription! Please send me a PM or email to [email protected] so I can look at your account. Tesla has not been adding many MS/MX over the last week or so, they have been adding hundreds of Model 3s, so that might be why you're not getting any new alerts.
 
I have the data but don't publish it yet, I'm working on that. The inventory always fluctuates. Sometimes it's EOQ, but most often it's just Tesla being Tesla and trying to manipulate the market one way or the other. There have been times where they load up hundreds of used cars, and other times they've removed several hundred cars in one day... only to all show up again a week or months later. I wouldn't put much stock into how many cars Tesla lists (or doesn't list) at any one time. Since it's never their entire inventory, it's always manipulated for some end.
