I figured I would call Tesla to see what the method to their madness was for the software rollout. I was told that every car has its own scheduled time. I asked if he could tell me what my car's schedule was, but he said only a SC could do that. Found that a little odd, thanked him and got off the phone. I'm not sure I want to bother Rockville. They are busy enough as it is.

on a side note. He also stated that they used to be able to send updates by request from their call center, but apparently are not able to anyway due to security concerns.

Back to to checking my car every few hours....

Hmm. Traffic based navigation? Not so much. Twice today I was driving with Tesla nav and Waze in parallel. Tesla was asking me to get on I5 which was a parking lot instead of staying on surface street.
And then it routed me in to the closed road that Waze routed me around. And then once more on a completely cluster ***** freeway.
If there is any consideration for traffic, I don't see it.
And yes, it's turned on. And yes, I rebooted.
Puzzled.
The new Navigon maps haven't downloaded yet. That will come sometime after 6.0.

Got it overnight. The first thing I noticed is this change in map logos. This probably points to the amount of under the hood work done.

I tried that today and it did not work as I expected it to work. Maybe the way I entered the address wasn't as it wanted it to be (but hey, ## street, city, state seems relatively standard). It instead grabbed on to a term in the "location" field and did a search on that and then tried to send me to the first hit for that search term.
I'll try again tomorrow.
my experience is that you need to have a good internet connection for it to work properly. Might you have been in a low reception area?

Has anyone tested the Location-Based Smart Air Suspension yet? Does it work ok? Any issues?
Yes, very accurate and reliable. Resets when appropriate speed reached.

I have a Battery B and my serial number is #6842, I had some issues with the 12V battery and as a result I had my Main battery replaced last July for a Brand NEW battery D! I am super happy. My max charge shows 497km full charged (100%).

My car received the update OTA today here in Finland. The car was parked with WIFI connection overnight, but when I started driving today it did not offer an update. After ten minute driving it suddenly noticed that the upgrade is ready to install.

There have been several queries about how well the satnav now works. With a couple of decent length journeys (>100 miles in real traffic) I'd say it's a great start.

Some of the specialist firms are better, particularly at estimating ETA. The MS seems to add a minute or two each time it decides that I am falling behind its anticipated schedule so it converges on my actual arrival time.

in the UK I think it needs to do better deciding what to do about traffic information; it's taking some into account though not as intelligently as I think it will do in time.

On the whole, it appears to me to be a very good step forward for the future. I am sure that they will evolve it from here and then we will see increasingly clever functionality.

I think this tells us that it continues to download even while driving once it has started. At least it means that no one has to stop driving in the hope that an update will arrive!

Seems that a lot of the new functionality is in the map. Does anyone know if it's possible yet to add a favorite spot without knowing it's address (ie: the middle of a field)?

It would be pretty useful for areas that you need to go frequently but don't know the address.

I'll reserve final judgement on the nav improvements until we get new maps, but for now, I give it a D or F.

Observations:

- The system attempted to route me on a highway that had been closed for at least 30 minutes due to a massive accident. Waze and the main display were aware that traffic was not moving and Waze had a backup route solution.
- I keep the main display in full screen track up mode. Every couple of minutes, it would briefly switch to north-up and then switch back, causing two full screen redraws. Maybe this is unique to me, as I also saw this in 5.09 and I don't see others complaining about it.
- I was often shown on the access road, instead of the main highway -- this may be related to the old maps, but the system was constantly trying to reroute me back onto the highway via side streets at 70 mph.

I hope we get updated maps soon -- I'm hopeful that will fix some of these issues.

Tesla already allows non-tech package owner to upgrade to the nav software. IIRC it's $1000 to get the nav by itself.

I don't have the tech package and I have odd behavior with my non-driver side door handles. I hope 6.0 fixes this. In my current 5.12 software and several versions before I have to tap the non-driver side handles a few times before they actually extend.

Wow. Thanks for posting what the Nav upgrade price is... Much appreciated

how do you know this? Did you do it, or quoted this from TM service center?

reason I ask is that I'm thinking of doing it... I don't have tech package

thx in advance...

I have also been asking for this fix for a year now.

+1!

I just received v6 at the Rockville SC (what a great bunch of guys). The thing i find most interesting in all of the comments on 6.0 (so far) is that I don't believe anyone has reported a bug in what is in the new firmware. I think that is remarkable, especially in light of our experience with some of the 5.x builds. I understand that everyone wants some additional feature according to their own priority list, but in my view what is most important is that we received a bug free (or at least a relatively bug free) upgrade.

And, while i know some people don't use navigation at all, for those of us that do, making the nav system traffic aware in real time would probably rate in the top 3 upgrade requests from all of us. So I'm happy, very happy.

The geo fencing of auto suspension works great. The traffic aware nav system re-routed me today on my way back from the SC to save me from getting stuck in heavy traffic. The calendar app works as advertised. Haven't tried fob-less start yet.

My bottom line is that i bought this car a year ago and loved it enough to pay 2x more than for any car I've ever purchased. And, as others have said, they keep making it better FOR FREE. And, they will keep making it better.

My only issue is that Elon has to stop telling us about certain features or upgrades that are "coming soon." Tesla, IMHO, needs to adopt the Apple model -- no announcements about anything until it is really ready to go.

So, if you haven't received 6.0 yet, you'll love it for the features it has. You'll want more, but you'll love the bug free upgrade that you'll get.

I have to agree with this. Don't over promise and under deliver, but otherwise its amazing what Tesla is doing for the existing owners in providing the updates and improvements. I had my Acura for 7 years and never got an update or improvement. Of course I started with a better GPS system in 2007 than the Model S currently has (I'm on 5.12, but even 6.0 is missing things my Acura had).

I've read that one or two people were able to get Nav later for an upgrade price. But that was quite a while ago. And since then a lot of people have asked and tried, and they've been denied.

Just got 6.0 updated at the Rockville SC. Love the calendar integration! Appointments with address links to the Nav easily. The speed sensitivity on the wipers seems to be corrected. Mine used to be super fast at highway speeds even at low auto setting. Was told there were lots of little tweaks down to the firmware in addition to the ones in the Release Notes. So far liking what I am seeing.

I will also add that I can't wait for the actual Navigon maps to update. Every time I go over the new span of the SF-Oakland bay bridge it freaks out and constantly recalculates...was true in all previous versions and in 6. But today's trip into the city from the east bay showed that the traffic timing etc is fairly accurate.
