Agreed... I see a one at least once or twice a week somewhere here in Northern VA or along my commute to Rockville.

Saw a beautiful deep red one on my way back up from Richmond last night... if you're here on the board, that was me in the blue S giving you the thumbs up...
im starting to see many more Tesla's on my 1,040 mile trips. Do the headlights ever turn off? they are very distinctive.

It also makes an impact on how much they are saving on “fuel” costs. It’s fascinating to hear how they are already changing their routines to hit up all the “free” charging places which are also around shopping areas and casinos they would’ve never stopped at in the past.

I can't even begin to count the number of "free" shots of Baileys I got to pour into my morning coffee just for playing video poker at the bar while they were preparing my drink. Of course, there was typically one fewer $20 bill in my wallet when I left the bar, but I did get a free drink!

German Electric Cars Could Catch Up With Tesla in Just a Few Years

they actually have tesla falling to 7th place by 2021. not exactly a detailed filled article. they cited production and profit as the main reasons for lagging in 3 years.

i think it’s quite the opposite by then. these other mf’s have yet to sink the capital into such projects, where are they getting batteries from? and the the charging? tesla will continue to spend and expand, but if they can get a decent margin out of the 3, i don’t see why they can’t continue that trend. (munro cites 30%, i’m guessing that was a LR RWD - they should have at least half that on SR RWD no??)

To me that's pure FUD. I mean we have heard that for pretty much a decade now. The German will catch up, the Germans will come, the Germans... As of today VW is struggling to meet the demand of their (inferior) BEVs, Audi pulled the R8 eTron off the market, the eTron Quattro is delayed and all the other stuff is not in production yet.

Of course at some point the Germans will sell something, too. And of curse they will sell a few cars. But I have no evidence to believe that the Germans are really serious, from talking to pretty much any German car guy, they simply don't seem to like EVs and quite frankly, the Diesel scandal is keeping most executives very busy these days (if they are not in jail yet).

Tesla Store Demographics: More Like Ferrari than Audi

Some interesting data:
Tesla Demo Update.png

From the article:
44% of the visitors to Tesla stores have a household income level greater than $150,000. Of the auto manufacturers that we looked at, only Ferrari had a higher percentage of visitors at this income level, and only by 1.5%. Tesla’s most obvious competitors — Audi, Mercedes and BMW — were all significantly lower at around 30%.

You mean the S daytime running lights? I was actually disappointed that the X, then the 3 didn’t feature the same design, kind of like the BMW eyeglasses in most of their models.

In Canada all cars must have DRLs on by default with no way to turn them off. It’s optional in the US, and there’s a switch to choose default on or off in US cars.

China doesn't use cylindrical cells either, so copying the model 3 cells is easy, but building a $5B factory to make them in volumes and automation required to hit $100KWh is the moat that keeps Tesla ahead to build the next moat. I'm certain Tesla has some ridiculously advanced cells in their pipeline as well. The problem is always going to be scale. Tesla needs to further prove they can scale. GF1 is a good test case for that, need to see costs come down on storage and volumes but their 35GWh targets for the first 1/3 of the factory, but they seem well on their way.

You don't seem to be reading or understanding the replies multiple members are writing on this topic.
Copying what is currently the highest performing battery cell for EV applications is certainly possible with enough time and effort. It is not easy or trivial for anyone.

Further reductions in Tesla battery cost per KWh are mostly going to come from further battery improvements that are already in their development pipeline and which (per the JB presentation previously posted) are not going to require significant factory infrastructure changes. Understanding the importance of battery energy density improvements in no way obviates the importance of Tesla having funded and built the world's largest battery factory timed to meet their future demand for cells. They are two interlinked parts of the entire moat.

Ok.

Stocks going down because of FUD peak and Elon getting angry about that provoked some Twitter mistakes.

I already took more hits on my portfolio then ever, but guess what:

My mood is fantastic and I converted to Ultra Long.

Why?

Ramping up the FUD is obviously because of competitors sweating out their fear, while Tesla achieved the impossible car.

-5000 Cars per week are flooding the street (and I don’t care about 1k more or less till October!)
-mid price fans are infecting YouTube and spending rides to their friends, creating a marvelous response (=more buyers)
-demand is getting through the roof
-munros just revealed, this car is profitable with 30% margin, engineered like a symphony and drives like on rails.

So, maybe it will take time till the stock answers to all that and for sure it’s more then the 3 weeks, but what’s obvious is, that with Model 3 delivery at this rate, there will be a positive response. And even, if Fudsters can hold it down till autumn, 2019 it’s definitely over.

Tesla made it and they’re writing history right now.

Don’t let anybody take the good vibes from you. Simply lean back and smile. :)

i’d tend to anticipate this changing as the 3 becomes more popular, but we’ll see
