Not sure why they are looking at cars. Wasn't HW4 planned for the cybertruck rollout?Same camera positioning:
Per Confirmed: Tesla HW4 Will Not Include New Cameras or Updated Placements
Why not both? Not sure why they are looking at cars. Wasn't HW4 planned for the cybertruck rollout?
Tesla may not consider this configuration HW4. They might call it HW3.5, with the main difference being that it has FSD Computer V2?Keeping both # and location of cameras the same makes the "it would be cost prohibitive to upgrade cars" bit considerably harder to understand

Tough to do with different HW3 and HW4 processor performance, eventual higher HW4 camera resolution, possible added radar, and different collected data. The team needs to cut HW3 and run if they want to have time and resources to optimize HW4.Why not both?
I think the NHTSA recall on FSD will help ensure resources continue working on HW3 and it's not just left to the wayside.Tough to do with different HW3 and HW4 processor performance, eventual higher HW4 camera resolution, possible added radar, and different collected data. It's always possible they plan to continue to collect and save 2 different sets of data for HW3 and HW4 especially if camera positions change.
Genius timing. This has gone right under the radar to ensure they don't Osborn the H/W3 vehicles. Not sure if this has been mentioned, but HW4 cars - Model S and X - appear to be out now as of last night...check out ev-cpo.com (you can now filter for HW4).
You'd think that Tesla would give a $200/month credit until FSD is available. /sThis might also be why they're not announcing HW4, it sounds like nothing but Autopilot will work on them to start:
Much more H/W info posted on Omar's Twitter including camera views.
He did retweet sourceHe's gotten all that info from this Reddit thread. Shame he lifts stuff like that without attribution:
He did retweet source
I think it's listed as AP0 because they don't check for AP4, yet.It would have been nice if he cited the source himself in his thread, rather than retweeting it after someone else had to find the source themselves.
Also interesting that TeslaFi is reporting this vehicle as Autopilot Version 0, or "No AP." TeslaFi.com Firmware Tracker
