Just FYI, my car was delivered on 6/21, white with black interior. The delivery experience was person who drove the car from the factory to my office (bay area). She wasn't super knowledgeable (she didn't know how to lock the car, when I asked her....) , so I figured I would give it a once over and let her go and I would figure out the details later.

QC - I haven't found any issues. Paint is good, quality is a bit lower than my outgoing BMW 335. Panel gaps and build quality are excellent, far exceeding the disaster that was my 335i. No rattles, no noises. It's absolutely delightful.

Also, it is as fast or feels as fast as my outgoing 335i rwd.

that is awesome!
here is a blue/white in Littleton. not sure if they would be willing to transport to your area
2019 Model 3 | Tesla

This morning, I emailed my Advisor and told him that I was on my way to see him, I wanted to know what options I had.
Today was his day off, so he emailed me back right away and said that I needed to talk to his Manager about it.
When I got there, the Manager was SUPER nice, she again apologized for not being able to deliver the car I ordered (LR RW).
I was like, Ok, what can you do for me?
She said that there's an AWD on it's way from CA and should be here Thursday/Friday.
They will "comp" the Wheels (1.5k) and the Color (1k), and they asked that I paid for the white interior (1k).

I agreed to it!

Expecting delivery Saturday @ 2pm of a Blue/White/19" AWD VIN 406xxx

I also asked the Manager about HomeLink, told her that I placed my order before 5/31, she was aware of it and in fact, she said that Managers received an email from Tesla yesterday on how to handle this. She had her laptop there and open the email in front of me and read it, it said that they will be adding it for free, after I take delivery, I just need to schedule a Service appointment for it.
So you guys that took delivery and were told that you can't have HomeLink, ask a Manager at your dealer!

jvmoore1, hope you can get your car soon!!
Good luck man!!

Will post another update after delivery this weekend!

Thank you guys for everything!!

Hey guys,
I found a rare lwd inventory in my color but, with 19 in rims. I have very sensitive hearing and get frustrated in my partner's car that has 19 in rims due to excessive road noise. I have driven in friends car with 18 in areos and it is such a difference.
I also, have to pay $1500 dollars extra for this.
If I cancel this reservation and order one in blue with 18s. Id lose $1875 in tax credits. But I am paying $1,500 extra so, in reality, it is not that much a loss 375 dollars to me be exact.
What should I do delivery is scheduled for Saturday morning.
Thanks guy!!

Wait for your perfect car. Tesla will probably lower prices right when tax credits expire.

first off you have to see if your tax liability will even be great enough to use the entire credit. I see alot of people thinking the tax credit is just free money and it isn't. If you don't have a great enough tax liability then you don't get *sugar*.

Also personally I would just get the 19in rims and change the tires. You could prob get around 800 for those new tires. they sell for like 260 a pop.

Take it with the 19's, and trade them to someone for the aeros plus some cash. I'm sure someone would be willing to do that.

that is awesome! congrats on Homelink as well!

What is your source? Do you have that in writing somewhere or someone at Tesla told you that was an official policy? I ask because several of us have been told that Homelink inclusion or not was not to be determined by Order date but by build date. If you have other info that could help us in challenging this please share. If you are willing to share a copy of your due bill showing Homelink even if you redact your private info, that would tremendously help.

I think this may be on a case by case basis, but it is true. I requested HomeLink at delivery and my delivery advisor consulted the sales team. They agreed to install HL for free and that a due bill would be written up. I didn't see the DB doc but received a call from mobile service today. They will install HL for free a week from Friday.

Ordered 5/28

White with white and black interior. 18" Aero wheels.

Got a vin and a delivery date on 6/15 with a delivery date of 6/20
Delivery date delayed on 6/19 to 6/27.

I'm now getting a lot of anxiety that tomorrow I'm going to get another call from tesla, delaying my delivery date again...

I think you will like the AWD. After tooling around in my LR RWD for a few days on highway, twisty canyons, and local streets, it is fast but I wouldn't mind even faster because despite the speed, there is so much control. It's very balanced.

And the 19" look great. I'm so happy I got the 19" comped.

And blue on white looks really sharp. Enjoy!

Picked up ours yesterday. Car is almost flawless and so i did not bother with the checklist.

Delivery specialist was an actual FSD Engineer and we spoke for more than an hour, mostly about Tesla's future. He was not rushed at all even when the parking lot was overflowing with new cars.

Some significant differences from the S we have owned for 2+ years and i like the 3 a lot better. Autopilot lane changes cancel Autosteer on the 3 but work fine on the S. Both cars updated last night to 2019.20.4.2 so looking forward to driving both today. Best wishes to everyone.

That’s a great resource to be able to speak with. What else did you learn from your hour long conversation with him?

Got an email to set up an appointment to install homelink on my 5/22 order - 6/19 delivery. So that appears sorted out. The most useful feature so far is the "upward tap" on the right stalk to disengage autopilot. In practice, much easier than tapping the brake. Otherwise car is fantastic. Well worth the time in the waiting room.

Now just waiting for Jvmoore1's car.

I think you got lucky that you actually got an engineer that was enthusiastic about their product and knowledgeable.

There is an ex-Tesla employee at my office. She worked in HR. She said at the end of the quarter they stop doing everything and are asked to "volunteer" (it's difficult for them to refuse) to go out and deliver cars. Drive the car out to the customer, drop off the car, sign paperwork, and Uber back. Repeat. She says finance gets upset cause sometimes paperwork doesn't get done properly and such. As with my delivery, I never signed the MVPA nor did I even sign electronically.

Enjoy your car.

They emailed you automatically? Burbank service center right? There is no bill or email for them to me so it's only on the word of the DA that there is an actual due bill.

I'm thinking Costa Mesa should contact me soon.

Picked up my vehicle last night! Thankfully only some minor issues. Small crack in the speaker grill that I didn’t catch until after. Other than that everything looked good.

The 5k supercharging added to the loot box this morning and had no issues requesting the homelink to be added. Also looks like Standard AP does not have signal triggered lane change like the sales guy explained. Bummer but at least when taking over control to switch lanes, the car reverts to cruise control.

Demo car was AWD and my girlfriend picked up the AWD so this was the first time driving the RWD and am loving it. Definitely worth the wait and the power consumption seems to be a bit easier to manage.

Take the car. Sell the wheels if you must, like others have said. I don't think you can order one in blue with 18s because they're not making RWD any more, so then it becomes a matter of waiting for one to pop up in inventory, and you and I both know how that goes. In my line of work, there's a saying...don't let perfect be the enemy of good. You can finally put an end to this months' long search for a car that will suit you. It would be foolish to cancel it. Trust me. I know things.

I sold the 19” tires and wheels that came with my Model 3 for $2,100 and picked up a set of almost brand new 18” aero wheels and tires for $600. I say take the car and either keep the wheels or swap them. It could be a while before you can order a LR RWD model again.
