Anyone know how long before the numberplate will appear in the database insurance companies are using?

My EDD is August 17 - October 1. If it is scheduled for August 17, can I delay the delivery until September 2 or so to get the 72 plate? How have Tesla handled these requests in the past? Tried searching, but found nothing conclusive.

When i've seen this before its been a bit of a dicey game, the short version of which is that if you delay too much they reallocate the stock.

Got the Order confirm text on the 1/6, white/white combo M3P which i will collect from Southhampton when its here. ETA is currently end of the year.

Moving from a M3LR+ in Grey which I have had a year and done 20k so far in. Fantastic car which I very much enjoy and its on PCP but my accountant tells me i'm a fool for not going the leased through the company route, much more tax efficiant etc so when it arrives I will sell mine and move to this (and I won't sell it till the M3P is collected! I can currently get back exactly what I paid for the M3LR which I know could change but I hope not much. Looking very much forward to the upgrade but not in a bad place currently

Several days after collection as Tesla only register it with the DVLA on the day of collection. Use the VIN for insurance, or manually enter details - normally best to call your insurance company.

That’s strange. I expected as they have the number plate for the car already that it would exist in the system but that it would take a few days to appear on the insurance database. I prefer to use a number plate for insurance as quotes seem way higher when providing the vehicle model info only. I’ll need to call them to do this anyway as I need to add it to an existing policy.

Tesla get blocks of numbers from the DVLA but only confirm specific vehicle details on the day. In theory your number could change, but that is very rare.

I got the reg for my MY the day before collection. When I put it through on my insurer website the make/model weren't picked up automatically but it just asked me to put them in, no dramas and didn't need the VIN. The price was about what I was expecting

Bizarre. Having two days ago reported that my late-April ordered M3P delivery date had slipped from September to 'September-December', I've just looked at my account and it tells me I've been allocated a VIN with delivery 24-30 June.

Please could someone who knows how to, add me to the waiting list. Finally succumbed to the urge to trade in my M3LR (March ‘21, black exterior and white interior) for a M3P (red exterior and white interior). Placed order this morning and estimated delivery of Oct - Dec. Tbh I’m in no hurry as I’m still enjoying the LR and a few extra months of saving the pennies won’t hurt.
