I did. $53K for a 99 Ferrari 360 that should sell for $60K at least

There used to be a place in the SF Valley that did consignment for high end sports cars (off Valley Circle), but I think they changed ownership a few times since I was there. That's probably not your normal trade-in car. :)

btw I'm originally from Newbury Park so it's good to see Ventura County represented here!

Congrats on the ride is it your first Tesla?

If I ordered today, safe to assume jan / feb delivery? (despite website saying dec)

Always dicey... as you are local I would say you have the best chance of pulling it off. They will certainly be inclined to get you in a car by Dec 31. May not be the car you ordered but if anyone has a good shot it's probably someone in the Bay Area. If I were to speculate I would say 75% chance yes. I have an X on order now and it says Dec-Jan and I'm pretty confident it'll be here in early Dec (ordered on 10/21; confirmed on 10/25).

Good luck! Do you need a referral code? :)

Brian, if you live in the bay area, and you ordered it this week, it would be highly likely you could take delivery this year, as they would want to make the delivery counts (end of quarter push) and you are right there so its less travel time for the car to get to you, but it will be all dictated on quantities and batches. once you make the deposit, you will be assigned a delivery specialist (DS) and they can tell you more or contact an Owner Advisor (OA), you have 3 days to cancel or change before it confirms....as far as the new tax credit bill.... who knows....

so if I hypothetically bought a MS this week (but it doesn't get delivered till Jan / Feb), am I SOL for the tax credit if this the new GOP reform passes in 2018? can tesla take my money in 2017 so I at least get the credit?

Car must be put into service to legally take the tax credit. If you get Vin, you can roll the dice and claim it but if audited, likely to get into trouble for tax fraud.

I do suspect numerous large-battery, dual motor Model 3 reservation holders may be jumping on Model S this year in order to claim the tax credit.

Just grabbed and inventory S yesterday (east coast). I was considering a custom order and saw that 11/12 is the drop dead date for a 2017 delivery.
So I was assured that even if the vehicle wasn't actually there, I would take "financial" delivery (give up my trade etc.) and that would suffice.
As it stands, the car I got is "waiting for rail transport" and it still appears that it will be here in December. I was gonna stick with a custom order 75 but found the inventory/loaner same spec but 100 and figured the inventory incentive plus the 1.49% 72mos free money and assurance of meeting the potential tax deadline justified the extra 10k for,the 100D.

I'll update as it journeys via rail. My current 70D was one of the first to use rail delivery and it took 34 days to get from Fremont to West Palm. It'll be interesting to see if there is any improvement.

The idea of "financial delivery" is a un-tested fallacy. The car must be "put into use". Unless you can show someone who go a letter from the IRS saying it is legal in their eyes, it isn't.
Hence the inventory buy. In service and "financially delivered" is a term I have not seen in any IRS pubs I have been able to find.
The November 12 drop dead for east coast delivery by December 31 appears tenuous when looking at postings in this thread. One wonders if all available production that is deliverable by December 31 is already spoken for?

I ordered my Model S 75D on 10/31 and got an email saying mid January or early February.

I contacted the sales guy and the delivery specialist and they both claimed that the auto email date was wrong and that it should be mid-December.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I ordered my model S on 10/31 as well. As the news of the proposed tax bill (exc the $7500 tax rebate after 12/31/17) came out, I started to get really nervous. I'm really counting on that rebate as part of my calculations to afford this purchase and this proposal will put me in a really tough spot. As the initial 72 hour grace period for order changes/cancellations had yet to expire, I immediately called my delivery specialist to relay my concerns. She was very understanding and tried very hard to calm me down. According to her, the cars are usually able to be delivered within a 6 to 8 week time frame from the original confirmation date. My order was finalized on Friday evening with an initial expected delivery date of January-early February. For now, I'm blindly trusting the delivery specialist that my car will in fact be delivered in time, but my anxiety is and will be through the roof over the next few weeks. If anyone has any advice on how to possibly speed up the process, please let me know.

Hello all!

I just ordered my MS 75D on the 10/30, it was confirmed on the 2nd and I got my VIN on the 3rd.

Will my Tesla account show me the progress of each build stage? I recall when I had ordered my BMW years ago, it told me each step of the build process, was wondering if Tesla provides that as well. If not what would be my next notification?

TIA.

For those of you that are ordering now, for delivery in the US, don't worry, if you look back at this thread, at every quarter end there is always a big push to deliver... the same will happen with this year end deliveries...

jmnieves, No, the Tesla site is very slow to update unlike BMW, depending on your DS, they will be able to give you real time updates, on the site you will see preparing for production, in production, and on way to delivery...

mentioned in earlier post, once the VIN is issued, its seems to be 3-6 weeks out before production starts, and spends about 5-7 days in production, once out of production, its the transportation time, once delivered to the service center its peeped for delivery...

This is true! Check out the stats for Norway. The same goes for all markeds: http://teslastats.no/
