Wiki Model S Delivery Update

I’m going to reach out to sales when I get home later. Delivery will be at Springfield. How was your experience there?

It was good. A little rushed once you are taken care of, but take your time. Missed a interior passenger door panel being loose and not aligned but the sent the mobile unit about a week later. Just go over it or better yet stop by a few days prior to delivery and check it out out back. Good Luck to you.

Changed from a custom order S75D to a "new" inventory S100D (2500+ miles) yesterday and today my S75D showed as "In production" just before it was removed from my account page. From the looks of it, they were going to get delivered around the same time but I ended up opting for the 100D... hope I don't regret this, lol.

Went from “Schedule for production” to “In production” to “car has been built and in transit from the factory” in a matter of 3 days. Not sure how accurate these updates are, but I hope they are quite accurate.

Seems as if my car is one day late behind yours. The problem with me is that I'm working the next ten days straight and don't know how to get time off to grab the car since the dealer is 2 hrs away.

I just picked up my MS100D yesterday, and couldn't be happier. Confirmation to delivery time was 45 days.

As others have also experienced, communication during this time was not great. I was assigned three delivery specialists in quick succession, and I only found out about the changes when I tried to email my DS and got a form response saying he or she had been reassigned. My friend's referral code was also not applied despite repeated inquiries. I mentioned it during pickup yesterday, and free, unlimited supercharging finally appeared this morning on my account.

The delivery experience was excellent. The San Francisco showroom on a Friday was not very busy, and our "concierge" patiently spent over an hour with us (my wife and I are the types who read the fine print on paperwork o_O ).. At the time there were 4 other MSs lined up for delivery, out of a total of 7 cars scheduled for delivery that day. The staff said they expected the weekend to be much busier.

The car (cosmetically, at least) appears to be in excellent condition, with no blemishes that we could find. We charged it up last night and will take it on a little road trip today!

Update: Delivery Complete

Took delivery yesterday (9/1) of my 75D. Things moved very fast after my car was listed as “in transit” on my Tesla account page. I emailed my delivery specialist to get an update and three days later, I got a response that I was scheduled for delivery in 5 days. I was out of town and wouldn’t be back until the day before taking delivery. At the same time, I was waiting on a Tesla trade-in offer and I also needed to get a trade-in offer from CarMax. I knew I wouldn’t be able to get the CarMax offer in time so pushed delivery by 2 days. Got the Tesla offer, which was pretty good but I wanted to see what CarMax would say. Well, they came in a bit higher. Not a huge amount but enough that I wanted to try and see if Tesla would match and thankfully, they did. Although, I didn’t know this until the morning of delivery. It was virtually impossible to get in touch with my Delivery Specialist. Never answered phone (voicemail was full) and never responded to emails. In fact, it was their supervisor that was the point of contact for me on delivery day and they were fantastic! Made up for the very little communication leading up to delivery day. At the service center (Alpharetta, GA), I had a great experience. Had a full walkthrough and explanation of the car and didn’t feel rushed at all. It was very thorough. A different experience than a buddy of mine who took delivery of a Model 3 a month ago at another location. It was pretty much, “here’s your keycard...have fun”. I know everyone’s experience will be different but just wanted to let everyone know what I experienced. Reading everyone else’s, helped me as I was wondering what was going on. I think they are at a point where they are swamped by all the Model 3 deliveries so they are moving people around and trying to beef up their delivery personnel. For those still waiting, hang in there, it’s worth the wait...so far.

Is there any new guides for Model S delivery checklist? Im soon picking up my car and im not really a expert when it comes to what i should check. All help is appriciated.
I would think there are more official ones on this thread. These are ones that come to mind based on my review of posts and personal experience:
1) fit and finish: make sure door panels fit well, check for any paint blemishes or runs (potentially more of an issue for M3)
2) paperwork: double check they plan to submit paperwork to DMV for tags/title on timely basis. They messed up mine
3) confirm you still get free supercharger access for life - this feature close to expiring as I understand
4) functionality - its hard to learn all the functions in one quick go. I'd say focus on safety features. Various settings for emergency braking, lane control, etc. Take the time to understand while you are there.

Have fun!

Where does this show on your account that you have free supercharging? I have had someone at Tesla confirm that I would receive it, but I haven't seen it on my account.

When I click the "Manage" button for my car, I see this:

This was only after I picked up the car, however.

I am going to buy a new Tesla Model S and noticed the that the estimated delivery date has jumped from end of September to November. What do you think that's about?

It's already september. Moving it "this late" isn't typical. They wanted orders to hit early September for an end of quarter rush but your NJ location is a little too far for them to make it happen by EoSept. So, November - that's what, 6 weeks different? Not much at all difference (and same tax credit so the only issue is the slight wait)

What is important at delivery is that you check everything that you cannot prove existed at delivery later on.
Such as damage to rims, paint defects, scratches, etc, etc.

Other stuff such as, I dont know, a non working screen, defective horn or something else can be fixed on warranty.
