Model S Reservation Tally

You must be very excited and you've definitely got me thinking about it, as if lurking on these discussion forums wasn't already reducing my patience on a day by day basis. I will have to consider my options. As you point out, waiting for the latest technology would be a never ending process akin to waiting for the latest computer or tablet and then never getting the benefit of using one. To be honest the main piece of technology I had been holding out for was an AWD version of the S as there was a rumour earlier in the year that one might be forthcoming in 2014. As I gradually give up that idea (I'm much more convinced that the RWD will be OK) then I guess that I will quickly find a way to ditch my lease so I won't have to live vicariously through this forum and various you tube videos etc.

Do it! I have been lurking for a year and some now. I am finally putting in my order next month once I have all my things in order financially to do so. Very excited and I am not worried about AWD as it is not important to me, so I am not holding back.

The alternative is waiting till 2017 for the lower priced vehicle, which admittedly is more my spending style as I do not buy expensive cars out of sheer frugality. But, I would rather not wait and the Gen III can be my second Tesla. :)

I just confirmed my reservation. White 85 with tech, parking sensors, jump seats! Will add to the map when I have a production number.
Congratulations tomp!! Welcome to what I refer to as "the interminable wait"! In the interim, join in on these discussions. Learn all you can. I swear when I went down to delivery I knew as much about the car (more???) than the Delivery Specialist who was walking me through the controls. You may be tempted during the wait. There are some unscrupulous characters here who will try to talk you into the Performance package. When they get you there they will not cease and try to get you into the Performance Plus package. They will cajole you toward the Premium sound package and the lighting, and the pano roof, and the alcantara and the extended nappa, and...Well, just read this as fair warning. But I must admit, I was fore-warned but upgraded twice after confirmation anyway. Shame on me! I feel so weak and wimpy...

The RWD is equal to, if not better than, the BMW 5 series. Check out the cold weather video on the forum, it looks like it can handle it just fine. Oh I forgot to mention, my dashboard shows my MS is in production. So it looks like it'll be on time, if not earlier then the 20th. Excited? Oh yeah! I'm already planning my first 200 mile trip. I'm taking a quick trip to Portland for lunch and some shopping. I'll post some pics.

Congrats tomp, Sounds like my configuration, less the jump seats. Now the wait!!! I come to the forum to see who else is suffering:smile: My wait however is coming closer to an end. The 20th is pickup day. Currently in production. Hang in there!

Testimonial: I just had winter tires put on my S. The storm that just came through our area caught many people by surprise. I live in a hilly neighborhood and as I drove my S effortlesslessly through a couple inches of snow into my development a neighbor's 500 series beemer sat stuck at the bottom of the entrance hill. (Of course I helped him and did not say a word....but I was tempted ). The S handled great in the snow with appropriate tires on. I found the regenerate braking particularly helpful. NO issues. I admit, I was surprised.

That's funny! Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed the last four beemers I had, and probably, (but doubt it) will drive my old, now wife's 2011 535i. Maybe to clean it.:crying:

This is all very re-assuring. I've been looking at the various snow videos and they are also very convincing. The roads here are in Calgary are awful right now, we've had large dumps of snow and after packing it down for a day or two we got a bit more which has now been polished on top. I've never driven a BMW 5 series but today I was driving some hilly roads in my Infiniti AWD which handles going up the hills well. I enjoy the feeling of not panicking when I'm at the bottom of a big slippery hill so I hope I'll get that same feeling with my S. Whenever I get the S, for my first snow fall, I'll probably take it for a few practice runs on hills with a minimum of parked cars until I get the hang of it. All being well, I'll film a few shots of how it performs on our San Francisco like hills to add to the video evidence.
Well, I think it's time to ask my Tesla rep if she can move my delivery date up :) Trying to convince my brother to take over my Infiniti lease any maybe buy it. (Younger brother so its only right for me to have a better car).

Thanks! This forum has been a great resource so far!

Best to move date up. If not, the wait will drive you crazy! Congrats on the move.

Hey 8 days to "no more gas" for you!

OK, thanks to everyone's intense nagging ;-) (twisting the proverbial rubber arm) I moved my date up to February 2014! That was probably the earliest I could move it to without looking at inventory and in any case I realized that any earlier than that would not be practical between Christmas, travel etc. and in order for me to figure out finance, get my garage ready etc. February sounds way better than April anyway. Now I'm going to have to really dig deep into things like winter tire types, electrical requirements, etc.
Thanks for the encouragement everyone and good luck with your orders and deliver dates etc.

Alright, less stress for you. Although it won't seem like it as the time nears. I got the Production complete, prepping for pickup or delivery on my dash today. Looks like it's coming in on time. I am beyond excited:biggrin: I'll post pics soon!

Oh and the stress level drops dramatically when you get the car ;) You'll instead have a warm and fuzzy feeling inside and whenever you feel like missing it you just take out your phone and watch the car through the app ;) It's really bizarre, never had such a "relationship" with a car before ;) Today as I wanted to test a bit more of highway driving (my daily commute is 8km in one direction) I took my wife to school and then took a 50km detour around town ;) Got average 201Wh/km going at speed limits, but today we had major winds so 2/3 of the trip I had strong sidewind, but the temperature was +5C. In any case the 50km passed surprisingly fast ;)

LOL, I think I will be the same way - probably use more energy than I did with my ICE what with all the extra driving I'll probably want to do!

I got good news from my DS.....my MS will be in Sunday nights, so I can pickup on the 17th:biggrin::love::biggrin:
I already expressed my jealousy in another thread :) Looking forward to pics

Now I'm in the mode of refreshing my dashboard every hour or so wondering when I will get my VIN number. Although I booked in early November, I only recently moved up my delivery date to February (the soonest that can be selected now) so I'm not sure at what point I will get a VIN number. Presumably others here have expressed the typical time frame but any info welcome. I've mentioned elsewhere that I've ordered some Tesla merchandise so I'm drinking whatever Koolaid I can get my hands on and I'll be wearing a Tesla T-shirt while pressing refresh on my dashboard screen.

VIN 30528. Ordered in the Washington, DC store on December 1, 2013, confirmed the same day. VIN# assigned 1/7/14. Delivery set for 3/6/14 to Rockville, MD.

Hi,
There is another thread where all 2014 orders are being tracked: http://www.teslamotorsclub.com/showthread.php/25492-Model-S-Order-amp-Delivery-Tracker-Q1-2014
