I'm in the same boat. My wife (and this will be her car) really wants to have a party on the delivery day. But I feel like we should get it a day or so earlier in order to set up the audio, get the seats and steering just so, get comfortable w/ the door handles, and generally figure out the car before we start taking friends on test drives. I want to be in a position to answer everyone's questions without having to look stuff up or just not know. Granted I live here on TMC so I should know most everything by the time the car arrives but we'll see.I've gone back and forth on this. I would love to have people over to welcome the Model S and see the whole delivery presentation and whatnot, but I also really feel like I need to be able to concentrate on whatever the Delivery Specialists are telling me, and not acting as a "host" to people. I've gone so far as to think that I want to do it during the school day so my kids aren't even there to distract me.
OTOH, anyone who knows me knows how long I've been waiting for this car, and it would tremendous to turn it into a bit of an "event", not to mention great publicity for Tesla. Fortunately, I have some time to decide and will wait to hear how the delivery process goes for others, and that may help me decide whether I can afford the distraction of having lots of people around during the delivery process.
Guess we'll just play it by ear and see if the expected delivery lines up w/ a potential party day and how other's deliveries go.
