Picking up my MS 75D tomorrow with the new MCU! DA said it finished production on 3/5 (status changed on 3/10 though). VIN
2462XX

Well I don't know if this is good news or bad news.

Up till last week I had constant web updates and phone conversations with Tesla DA. he went MIA last week. I assumed my car was being held in Richmond waiting for the dealership to clear up the back log.

I called this morning and got a different DS.

My vin 60xx, is within 200 of Ea_roe. who has the new MCU.

my car was built supposedly 23rd to the 26th. in Richmond on the 9th?? forgot anyway.

Now they said the car started week of 26th, but can't confirm, and didn't leave the factory till the March 1st, later than what Tesla posted.

According to them my car is still sitting in Alabama hub not Richmond. He says there still planning to deliver this Friday as we look out the window at all the snow coming down.

Did I get the new or old one???

I’d bet old given your build date and location in Virgina. You’re too Far East. Most east new MCU is Chicago. I’m in Wisconsin and my delivery has old MCU

As an aside, what's with DS's going MIA?

Don't know He was very good and attentive as far as could tell. just doesn't seem to be at work, or tied up, when I called over the last week. In previous posts I had said the dealership is slammed with all the parking spots filled inside and out. They look like they are trying to deliver hundred's of cars over the next few weeks.

Interesting...

I have the new MCU and 10.2 but what would be the difference I am looking for? I can let you know once I get the hang of it. First Tesla for me.

The easiest way to try to tell would be to use AP while going over the crest of a hill/slope. AP traditionally has had problems dealing with crests since it would lose the lane lines and abruptly try to recover them, often swerving in an unnerving fashion. The new update seems to keep the car mostly steady in the lane.

I am a new owner and new here. I have been following the updated MCU thread. I got new information today that, while anecdotal, may be helpful.

I ordered a Model S 75D in Houston on Valentine's Day. On March 2, 2018, I was given notice that Tesla was sourcing parts for the car's production. On March 16, 2018, I received notice that the car was built and was in transit from the manufacturer.

I spoke with my Delivery Specialist this morning and he confirmed that the car will have the new MCU. To the extent helpful, the VIN ends in 490XX.

He admittedly didn't know how it was determined which cars would get the new MCU and which would get the old. He did say there were two cutoffs for inclusion of the new MCU - one in January and another thereafter. He said that overseas customers were not receiving new MCUs at this time.

Hope this is useful.

Welcome to the forum AGreen!

I talked to my DA today finally about the the MCU. My car was finished built 2/26 or 2/28 it does not have the MCU 2. It did not leave the factory until March 1st. :(

Picking up my MS100D (MCU2) on Wednesday.
I will add it to my Firmware Upgrade Tracker account then.

It would be great if there was a way to indicate old or new MCU and see reports broken out based on MCU

I'm working on way to do that, but self-reporting MCU1 vs MCU2 could get sticky as it's not blatantly obvious which MCU someone has if they aren't knowledgeable enough or don't pay particular attention.
