Model X April Deliveries

Other potential problems to check for at delivery: frayed center console (see attached pic), misaligned trim (see attached pics) squeaky doors and squeaky windows.

All of this is really poor Quality Control on Tesla's end. What I want to know is how cars are leaving the factory in this condition, and why more QC isn't done at the end of the assembly line. This is absurd.

@KaiserSoze That center console looks bad and so does the alignment. I'm appalled they even let someone take delivery of that vehicle. Have these items been fixed yet?
I've heard everyone's advice and we definitely will not be taking delivery if we don't feel confident once checking the car over. On a positive note our new DS is knowledgeable and proactive. I have not heard from our original DS since hearing the car "was on its way to South Florida". At the beginning of this week, this new DS called us when the car arrived to Dania, he called again, when they started QC and he called again yesterday to give that update. He has been the most informative person we have dealt with thus far.

FWIW: I’ve had to be proactive in emailing or calling my DS @ Dania (kept communication to a minimum though, 2 per month) in order to get a response (which is somewhat disappointing given the few X’s they have delivered to-date).

My DS suggests delivery by mid-May. Initially was going to pay cash but after reading about severe issues for some just recently delivered vehicles in ‘calmer' April (and after end of quarter delivery “challenges”), I’ve decided to lease.

I’ll lose the $7.5K credit (but lessened pain since a 3 yr lease) but will have the the peace of mind of a “Happiness Guarantee” and/or the ability to walk after 36 months and obtain a more “mature” vehicle.

I would love to say with confidence that I "trust" Tesla, but I'd being lying if I didn't say trust wasn't wavering a bit. In the end I know they'll make it "right", but my car, as you said, may be one of those with chronic problems and that bothers me a bit.

I know many have gotten nearly perfect cars but those in your situation, where you know there a many imperfections being dealt with post production, I really feel for. I'm not a lawyer but cars are not "real property" and I'm not sure that a car with a particular vin and Tesla approved options has to be accepted as "your" car. If it was designed to your individual specifications it might be different otherwise it seems it's not "your" car until you take title. It's not yours when they assigned a metal frame a particular vin after all. Maybe there should be a policy that if a car cannot be delivered to the customer within 30 days of manufacture a replacement is put into production immediately and the delayed car becomes loaner/demo or sold as cpo.

I was thinking about that, too. That way it also stays close to service if any other issues appear and the owner can have trust in her/his car - that would save a few people a lot of frustration and doubt.

Mr. Musk and Tesla management team are personally testing these cars now. I think, it's also a result of poor design and poor choice of flimsy material. The seats ripping apart under pressure within a few days doesn't look like a QA issue.

After some quality issues, Tesla CEO Elon Musk is personally testing Model X as it come off the line
From Tesla's letter to owners:
Thank you for your patience as we’ve taken a little extra time to ensure your Model X meets the highest standards of quality. For the last couple of months, we held back our production rate to check and recheck every part of Model X from each of the ground-breaking features to road performance. We’ve had members of our management team, including Elon, test drive Model X as it came off the line so that we can confidently say that you’re going to love your Model X.

@K-MTG,
I'm amazed at your patience at this age. Weren't you enticed to upgrade to a 90D with a false promise of a March delivery? Tesla must be glad to have early adopters like you. Good luck to you, man.

Tesla has been offering to upgrade the vehicle to get an earlier delivery as the 70D is not set to start production until mid-2016.
Tesla representatives have also been calling people with a Model X on order for the same reason.

He must have started testing cars after mine left the Fremont Factory. Darn!

@X Fan thank you!!! I have been so consumed worrying over the "repairs" and what not you bring to light a good option. Leasing! Thank goodness I had earlier heeded the advice of others and not wired them the funds. I was tempted to when our DS said it was headed to SoFlo but I saw the repetitive posts of not making that mistake and paying before hand. Boy oh boy am I glad I followed that advice. It kind of sucks the money factor on the car is crap. But it's kinda damned if you do, damned if you don't.

Hi there.

I should point out that I misspoke re: losing $7.5K credit. Evidently, US Bank & Tesla worked out an approach (in leasing thread) to have the end user benefit by increasing the value of (end of lease) residual, thereby lowering the amount used to determine the lease cost. 4% is still an above market rate but it's not a deal killer.

We still will need to allocate mid-$50K for 3 years but then again with no out of warranty issues to worry about with FWDs, etc. plus the ability to send back a "bad" vehicle within 90 days through the Guarantee, I changed my mind on payment approach.

Also, I've typically replaced my vehicles every 3 years anyway so it just t just makes sense for me and as I've seen, recent S purchasers have benefited tremendously from being late to the Tesla party.

Wish you best of luck with the X!

+1 (714) 545-1800 Option 4 and pray for someone pick it up. Most on the time no one picks up and it will reroute to HQ delivery. But, that's another story. Again, good luck and let me know how it goes.

Was told to expect delivery mid-May, very disappointing until now I was told end of this month. I already paid and did my loan application and everything.

I never experienced such poor customer service

Yup, at this point I lost all of my patience. I think they may be ignoring my calls now since I sent a very demanding message. I called from my cell phone several times and was transferred over to VM, a couple seconds later I called from a different number and my call was immediately answered. I am all for Tesla but at this point I am annoyed and angry.

I can feel your pain, lack of a responsive DS team was by biggest complaint against Tesla. I am hoping for a far better experience with the SC teams. The folks at my local SC are really wonderful though I have not had an "in service" experience yet. I will know tomorrow when my car goes in service.

This is Tesla. Apparently, they don't even care its customers. I have been saying this all along. I tried almost every possible way to communicate with Tesla, but nobody cares.

Not sure what is with the 97% satisfaction rating. I wonder why your order is delayed, your VIN is so low.

The main reason I upgraded to the 90D was for a faster delivery date

Well, I am bouncing from March Delivery forum to April forum (Mar 24-31 commit, scheduled for April 8 pick up, paid full amount and got dropped the night before delivery) and soon I will be in the May delivery forum!!

What I read about Tesla being the next gen car company - I am not experiencing it. After paying the full $100K (accruing interest since March 24), Tesla took my money to their Q1 results and I am stuck with no car for a month now and no estimate whatsoever from their delivery specialist. I am still their "#1 priority" apparently ! :-(

I wonder what treatment is given to their next priorities :)
Still waiting in San Jose! (VIN... 28XX)
