Model X December Deliveries

Took delivery of our 90D today in Bellevue, WA. There were a couple other deliveries happening at the same time (including a gorgeous all-black Model S).

Overall, as painless as we expected. They buffed out some glaring swirls, including some scuffed trim (mostly buffed out.. any further and they'd be risking going through the chrome -- it's acceptable now, at least, and not obvious). They got some truck-driver hand-print cleaned out as well, and we're scheduled for some adjustments to the fitment of the rear hatch and the doors.

The worst issue, though -- one which requires replacement and repair -- involved chipped glass on the headlamps, windshield, and driver-side pillar. Apparently rocks were launching themselves at my car. Not happy about that, but they are taking care of it. Probably worth adding that to the checklist. These were easy to miss, but once we saw the ones on the pillar (the easiest to see), the others started to be noticed.
Don't companies like Mercedes ship their cars in covered trucks to prevent just this kind of thing? Shouldn't these cars be in the same category?

Although I get the amount of pressure they're going through. They wouldn't be having so many problems if they were just honest and open with their customers. We've done our due diligence with them and even forked over $2500 to start the process. The least they can do is be honest and tell us where our car is in the production schedule and if we're realistically going to get the car in 2016 or not. There's 8 days left now and they're only going to get more frustrated customers if they keep giving vague blanket statements.
I can't blame you for being frustrated. I said I wasn't going to complain but thanks to the delays, I have had my Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday plans obscured. I am so busy that I won't be able to take another vacation until next Nov or Dec. I've kept getting a Tesla a secret to most people I know and it's a good thing because the people who do know aren't impressed with this process at all. I even canceled my appointment to have the HPWC installed because of all the uncertainty. Sometimes I feel like the closest I'll get to owning a Tesla is the red Model S matchbox or hotwheels car I bought for my son. Ok, I'll stop whining. Anyway, I called them today and they said that the car is at the SC, going through a final inspection before the delivery on 12/27. My fingers are crossed...for myself and all of you who are waiting.

Took delivery of my MX 90D at the Decatur, GA SC today. Really happy with it - had a great experience. They were super patient and I was there for about 2 and a half hours total.

Before I get into the details - just want to say that again. I am so happy with the car. It rides great, all the features I picked were perfect, and it looks fantastic. All the little details on alignment, etc. - don't care about it at all now that I actually have the car. Nothing is perfect - if I compare the car as it is now to how it would be with all the issues I found fixed, it would increase from a 9.9999 to a 10. Really was delivered in great condition and exceeded my expectations. Oh, and it is so fast. Just so fast... cannot imagine what the P100D is like - I could barely unlesh the 90D without running into something.

A few details for those interested...

The vehicle on My Tesla switched to a new status about 24 hours prior to my appointment (right around when the store manager said it had arrived) - "Your Tesla is undergoing preparation for delivery".

Arrived at the SC on time - could barely find a parking spot - must have been 50 cars awaiting delivery. I was at the same SC a month ago and it had maybe 10 cars waiting. Two cars were dropped off by trucks straight from Freemont while I was taking delivery - no idea where they are going to put them all.

Let my kids take a look with me before we did any paperwork (they just checked it out with my wife and left shortly after - remaining for the whole thing would have bored them). During the excitement I almost forgot to take pictures of the kids and my wife and I with the car - grabbed them from the car and made that happen before they left.

Paperwork was easy (financed via Tesla) and took about 15 minutes. They had it all ready to go. Nice umbrella waiting for me in a gift bag in the car - no other freebies but no big deal. They actually ran out of rear license plate holders but said they would give me next time I was at the SC.

Spent a while inspecting the car with the Product Specialist - I read the checklist before going but decided to focus mostly on looking for anything that was worn or damaged and didn't actually follow the checklist while I was there. She was very patient.

MC Pearl White paint looked great - no damage at all or imperfections - maybe a few parts that needed buffing (they said they would detail when I came back next time). Saw a slight nick on the driver's side mirror but it will probably buff out too.

Hot topic here so I will address it. I did see a few alignment issues. I looked at a few cars (including my other brand car at home) and most have these to varying degrees. Honestly - I was really worried about this from reading this thread (it was the first thing I checked). I don't really care now that I have had the car for a few hours. They wrote down the alignment problems between the brightworks and doors - it really was very minimal (about 1-2 millimeters off). Since they documented it I have the option of them trying to improve/fix it - but I am sure they would have done it via warranty anyway.

Saw a few nicks on the plastic on the frunk and one other area in the back - something I would probably do myself in about 20 minutes putting something in the car. Wrote it down but not a big deal.

Some slight issue with the aluminum on the trim inside the FWDs - but not a big deal. Also something looked like curb rash on one of the rims but I think it is some glue now that I have it home - they did write that down too though.

I made a SC appt before I left - about 4 weeks out due to how busy they are. The issues on the list were all so minimal I am not even worried about getting any of them fixed. I wrote them down so I have the option, but am a little hesitant to have them pull apart the car for stuff that is really not a big deal. Maybe they have easy ways to adjust this stuff so it is good to check just in case.

I did notice there were some scratches on the center console cover once I got home - wish I saw that when I was there - will e-mail them about it. Again, not a big deal since I am sure the gloss obeche will get some scratches here and there as it actually gets used.

The product specialist spent over an hour going over the features after that. Really patient and despite having an MX at one point overnight during the sales process and watching so many videos - she showed me a few things I wasn't aware of.

When it was all done I checked to see if they had a Chademo adapter in stock or all weather mats (no on both fronts). Strangest thing is you really don't leave with any paperwork - you just drive off into the sunset after the walk through.

Been sitting in my car for a few hours setting things up. Had a pending update so I did that too - took over an hour and the car appears to be totally broken when it is in the middle of the update. Just let it finish and it will spring back to life.

Ok - long post! Will try to get some pictures up later but it is a super nice feeling once you get the car finally. Based on how many I saw in the lot I am sure the folks still waiting will hear some news soon. They are moving fast into this last week of the year!

Thanks all for the support on this thread - fun ride through all of this :)

I should have looked for it today - might have been coming off the truck while I was at the SC picking up my MX. Just posted a long update but if they said it is there, I would believe them based on my experience today. Key thing is to know when they have it in their hands. Just a few more days - looking forward to hearing how it goes when you take delivery.

Sad, i requested December delivery and I an also picking up at Fremont factory . However, so far my car is still in production for two weeks long
My car just entered into production on 12/20 and my DS told me it should be done by the beginning of the week usually he said 5 days production. He called me this AM wanting to schedule a deliver on 12/29 or 12/30 hopefully they will surprise you with a phone call saying is time to schedule a delivery!

I know where you're coming from but in my case, it's a good thing that my wife is too pissed to have a direct conversation with them. She sounded off "WTF, guys???" in the background during one of my conversations with them but that's about it. Seriously though, I wouldn't want to be working at Tesla right now. I can't begin to fathom how much pressure they are under with all of the year-end deliveries.
Totally agree with you I can't even begin to imagine the pressure they are under but in a consumer stand point they are making statements that are beginning to sound like an effortless bind to just please the consumer with what they want to hear...

[ QUOTE="pchengMX, post: 1881181, member: 51235"]I wish I can afford it but can they deferred the delivery I know they usually give you a week? How long are you gone?
I

I leave Dec 26th to Jan 1st skiing with the family... So the DS/SC has today (22nd) and tomorrow (23rd) to deliver this car to us unless they are working on Christmas Eve day. I'm officially getting pissed off as they asked and were told of our end of year time constraint numerous times beginning sometime in September. And like many of you, promises were made of late November/early December delivery time frames that never materialized. This simply would not be such a big deal if communication were better... I'm talking to you TESLA! If this agreement to by a car from you were a marriage it would be headed for a few pre-paid therapy sessions at the very least. You told me to get my financing in order back in November as the cars delivery was "imminent" and yet here we continue to sit, nearly 30 DAYS LATER, on a car loan large enough that would put me into the driver's seat of a nice 63' Corvette Split Window Coupe or a 80's Renault R5 Turbo And those cars will do something your cars will not.... Appreciate in value! Telsa, pull your heads out of your flux capacitor and communicate with us! Don't B.S. us with promised delivery target dates and a website tracking apparatus (My Tesla) that is as accurate and up to date as my teenagers school agenda. If you fail to get me this car by years end it puts us in a needlessly complex tax situation for 2017. Others have complained about having to wait 90 days for their car after order confirmation. We have waited 10 months! Enough is enough...[/QUOTE]

Wow if they reschedule my our appointment next Friday my wife will probably loose it. We will probably just forefeight and demand a refund in our deposit. She is so upset with how Tesla is just giving us the run around without solid answers.... which I understand. I'm probably the more understandable person they should speak too lol

Good info from your DS and my DS insisted there's no delay in the production line (without mentioning my X) when I have waited over 30 days already. How hard is it for them being honest with anxious customers like us to let us know there's a delay and when we should expect our X (2016 or 2017). Sometimes I thought I'm talking to a recorder when they tell you the same story every single time. I don't mind waiting but not waiting in the blind. I don't give a shxt to my DS anymore.

Hopefully things will work out for you, I was really happy with my owner adviser called and txt her for all my questions....then just recently started to communicate with my DS. I wasn't expecting them in getting my car ready so fast.....as I requested a Feb 2017 delivery, initially on my Tesla page it showed Late Jan-Feb 2017 then it changed Late Dec- Jan 2017 a few days after I received my VIN.

UPDATE: Just received an email from Tesla that the production is now complete

Lol funny because at first I did not want to keep bothering them of when the vehicle will arrive but I'm in the same situation I don't give a crap anymore about bothering them because they have already exceeded their allotted time frame of expected delivery and still have not commit to it.

We need to create a group of future owners like us to file a claim or lawsuit on later-than-expected deliveries and at least request a substantial discount on our X if not free, you know like what amazon does when their delivery are out of the expected time frame. Maybe @AudubonB can help us with that? :)
