It looks like I will take delivery of my Model X at my house the end of the week. I have a question regarding payment timing for people who took delivery at their house. Did you have to pay in full before they would put your X on the truck? That is what my delivery specialist told me I had to do. My concern is once I have paid, all pressure to deliver the vehicle before the end of quarter is gone making it more likely to go into some kind of delay cycle. But it seems I do not have a choice and need to take one last leap of faith. Any advise?

If they say that the vehicle will be delivered I would trust them. The delivery program coordinator (based in Fremont) contacted us to make sure that was the case (he did it to check ours was delivered a day after planned delivery date - something that did not happen when I took delivery of my S). I'd expect you also have papers to signs for the deal to be final. Besides, you are probably doing them a favor as the end of this quarter seems to be quite crazy in term of deliveries... I don't think they'd take the risk to make a new owner unhappy.

Picked up my X75 yesterday at my local service center. The car is great, but unfortunately, the right FWD is misaligned and got stuck when I tried to open it. They "adjusted it", but it got stuck again just before I was about to leave. They "adjusted it" a second time, and it worked okay.

Fast forward to my garage (which is much smaller) and the same FWD caught the same rear trim piece, except that this time it bent it and ripped the door seal. Unfortunately, it was already too late to return to the service center, so they're picking it up monday.

Bottom line, make sure you open and close the FWDs repeatedly and in different space conditions to test the full range of motion for the hinges. My door got caught the third time because of the clearance in my garage made the door open at a different angle how it did in the delivery bay.

Spoke too soon - sorry to hear that :(

Definitely a speed record. My "expedited" "you are bumped to the front of the line" timeline wasn't anywhere near that fast.

Delivery to Washington, DC area.

June 17th configured
... Tesla said nothing needed from me, I just need to wait. "You are at the head of the line"...
August 10th order confirmed and vin assigned.
August 27th vehicle in production
Sept 8th vehicle complete and in transit
Sept 23rd first delivery date(vehicle not arrived yet)
Sept 27th new delivery date.

Hopefully it'll be here tomorrow. :)

Finally took delivery on 9/24. Some interesting timing logistics, the car was supposed to arrive at the dealership 9/26 but due to some personal timing issues that would mean I couldn't pick it up until 10/1. Fortunately, it arrived early and I was able to quickly finalize the loan. Once I got there it was a very smooth experience. Friendly staff greeted me at the door and introduced me to my new Model X. The entire process took about 1.5h with them showing me every detail about the car and it's functions and answering every question we could come up with.

The drive home was a bit interesting, I felt like a new driver again since I really didn't know how to operate the accelerator and probably caused a few people to brake check unintentionally. I'm starting to get used to that now. Autopilot will take some testing as well, I don't know if I can get used to where it puts the car as I'm used to driving far closer to the right line, I think I need to read up on that more to learn it's capabilities and limitations so I don't do anything silly.

Daughter called me creepy today for sitting in the garage playing with the controls and watching her walk up behind me in the rear-cam to tell me it was supper-time. If that is to be my creepy old man moment I'll take it.

Wonder what the hold up was.

I was confirmed 8/24 and taking delivery tomorrow on east coast.
I don't think that was really a hold up. When we ordered back in July, the website clearly stated delivery in late September. That'a pretty much unchanged for August as well. It's more like a push for deliveries but yea to me I do feel like a hold up compared to people who order in late August/early September. Compared to preorders we are already getting ours much sooner, that's another way to see it.

I was scheduled for Sept 28. DS called to ask if I could pick it up a day early. And of course I will be going to get it at 6 tomorrow. She didn't think it would have 8.0, as that comes from Fremont and the service center can't force it. Sounds like they're working overtime to make the quarter.
