Good news? Maybe? I dunno... but PG&E just confirmed to me that the latest form 79-1193-02 (NEM2-Interconnection) works for Powerwall systems in excess of 10 kW. The old-method required > 10 kW systems to use the NEM2-MT. But, now PG&E recognizes that the Tesla Powerwall 2 has received a Certification Requirements Decision as a qualified Power Control System.

So are you going to try to switch to NEM-PS and drop the insurance rider?

If only it were actually possible/do-able 😿

Honestly if I weren't so stupid, I'd just go up on my roof myself and lag in some mounts, bolt on some rails, and throw some panels on there. But then I'd probably die when I fell off the roof.
I swear the way I'm going to go is falling of a 15' step ladder in the middle of the night trying to shut up a smoke detector when I'm half asleep.

One cool thing about Contra Costa County is that the local fire department will come and change batteries for smoke detectors. We requested this when we moved into our house since, like you, we have a detector at the top of a 15' vaulted ceiling.

FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF, the PG&E portal just rejected my SNEM application, and kicked me into NEM2EXP (NEMExpanded). Their own Rule 21 documents state:

NEMExpanded is worse than NEM2-MT. Nooooooooooo

SNEM Paired Storage:
PV <=30kw pairs with storage 10kw or below
PV <=30kw pairs with storage >10kw with CRD-PCS

NEMExpanded Paired Storage:
PV >30kw pairs with storage 10kw or below
PV >30kw pairs with storage >10kw with or without CRD-PCS
PV <=30kw pairs with storage >10kw without CRD-PCS

what does this mean?

What is CRD-PCS?

Damn dude, the PGE hate must be mutual.
Did you submit the CRD-PCS certification for the GW2?

Based on Redhill_qk's description of what CRD-PCS means (I didn't read the link), how can the GW2 be so certified when you can enable both "grid charging" and "export everything"? Or does Tesla have the ability on the backend to make those mutually exclusive, and you can request they do so, and then they give you some certification?

Cheers, Wayne

The Equipment listing to the CRD specifies what it can do. The commissioning app (and perhaps the firmware) locks you out of enabling both Export everything and grid charging when its disallowed.

This explains why @h2ofun has both grid charging and grid exporting enabled on a mini powerplant with 7 Powerwalls and like seventy-bazzilion solar panels under SNEM. He doesn't need no CRD-PCS since PG&E likes him.

Yes and no, no and yes.
on my garage gateway, which has had 3 or 4 PW's. grid exporting is not enabled, grid charging is

On my house gateway, which has had 2 or 3 PW,s grid exporting is enabled, and so is grid charging.
When I have called tesla to ask why different, I never got an answer.

I still don't know how you got interconnected without NEM2-MT or NEM2-EXP. The portal literally won't let me go past to the next screen unless I lie about the number of Powerwalls or their kW export. The moment the ESS hit a 10 kW export number, I can't proceed under SNEM or NEM2-PS. And yet somehow you got a system that is like 4x mine approved no problem. And somehow you can grid charge and grid export, which is supposed to be a condition that is disallowed the Tesla system to ever get the CRD-PCS to begin with lolol.

The problem using NEM2-EXP is that this NEM is for solar > 30 kW and for industrial/commercial solar installations or hybrid generator systems. It's not meant for an idiot like myself with solar on a residential rooftop.

I don't know about you all, but I feel like the planner/designer and PTO specialist at whoever installed your solar and ESS doesn't get enough recognition.

For real... how the ever living hell do you all actually get a system designed, approved, interconnected and activated? The process is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo impossibly difficult with more red tape than anything I've ever done professionally.

While I may be a dumb-MF-er, I still like to pride myself in... not being completely incompetent. At least, I've been able to trick people that I'm not incompetent.

But after trying and failing to get 12 solar panels installed and PTO'd under NEM2.0 I feel like they need to give a flippin' raise to anyone who can actually design a system and actually handle PG&E's ridiculous miles of red tape to get that system activated.

TLDR:
Holeydonut = sucks.
PG&E = sucks.
Your local friendly solar and ess providers that can actually get a system to work = not-sucks.
