Some interesting changes. Of course, the big question that will need to be answered at some point is whether HW3 that many of us are carrying will still cut the mustard. Surely, it’ll be difficult for Tesla to make FSD (eventually!) work with vastly different hardware configurations.

You assume (optimistically) that HW4 will serve for genuine FSD. Note there is no external cleaning system for non windscreen cameras. I'd suggest this is just another stepping stone by the snake oil specialist getting folk to pay for his development ideas. Where is the deep intfrared system and the surround Hi Def radars...

Interesting that the camera placement seems to be unchanged, which makes the prospect of a retrofit rather more feasible than if the 13-camera rumour had panned out.

With Tesla, I think it’s best to assume it’s not news until it’s shipping on peoples cars.

The radar was widely leaked 6 months ago when it turned up in the online service manuals.

The higher definition cameras was talked about a few months ago as Tesla were placing an order for them. It’s kind of interesting if they do reduce the forward facing cameras to 2, but presumably that undoes much of the benefit of a higher pixel camera (in the sense that they’ll just zoom in on a wider image to recreate the camera looking at the longer distance with the same resolution they had before) Heaters etc have been added before. It could well be just a case of a further simplification of their build in this area rather than a marker improvement over the actual capabilities
