Production delay

So I spoke to my DS yesterday. I'm on the east coast with a VIN of 42XX for a 90D, 7 seats, and virtually all options. I had a previously scheduled delivery of late April/early May. He was going to let me know when the car started production, and since I hadn't heard from him it was obvious that late April was not going to happen.

We actually had a fairly length conversation, the gist of which was I was delayed to mid-May-early June. According to him a combination of the rear seat issue, and the need to slow down production to make sure "fit and finish" was up to par caused a general slowdown in production. When I probed him about specifics, he basically said the issues reported in forums were what they were working on, and when I asked him about particular examples such as window and door alignment, seals, etc. he said those were the kinds of things. I asked about wind noise and he said that was one of the most frequent issues raised by MS owners, exacerbated by the absence of masking engine noise. I asked whether that improved over time from more refined production, he said there are fewer of those complaints with later MS deliveries. I asked about the "double-vision" issue, and he said that was not one of them because the phenomenon is not limited to Teslas, and is dependent on multiple factors unrelated to any defect in the windshield.

Bottom line, his message was the factory wanted to make sure when a car was delivered it was the best it could be, and SC visits could be minimized. Based on what I've read, if that is actually the reason it is a good thing, since most of those issues are annoying but not serious, and could largely be avoided if production were more finely tuned.

Finally, i asked him if he thought the current delivery estimate was solid. He said the shuffling of delivery dates seemed to have quieted down in the last day or two, which he took as a sign of reliability for this revised schedule. BTW, on the website it now says "late April-May." No "early" May. While I am really anxious to get the car, if a month's delay enables them to deliver a more perfect car I'm fine with that. We'll see.

My DS said last week that my 50XX was in final stages of production and will likely be delivered the last week of April. Today I called for an update and heard that the car is still in final stages of production. At this point I don't think delivery next week is likely. So looks like first half of May at this time for me.

quick report: vin 25xx 90D still not in production. My Tesla page still showing April-Early May. Has anyone call the Tesla HQ's delivery number: (888) 771-2505. I called and I left messages, no one ever picks it up or return my calls. Where is everyone? Where is the Tesla service?

Thank you for sharing. Mine showed as "April - early May" and had not changed for months. I called in Costa Mesa center today and Eirc was kind enough to answer it, and told me it is still not in product. He informed me that Factory will not release product schedule to them but instead provide eta on production finish date, which he told me early May in my case, which it is a match from My Tesla page. And, it is likely to be "the first a few days of May". However, "it is not in production". I didn't ask him, but was wondering, there is not much time left between now to early May.

It's really sad that the service has fallen this much. I called my SC and left a friendly message for parts regarding purchasing a charging adapter for a trip I have coming up and requested a call back if they had the item in stock so I could swing by and pick it up. Nothing, nada, zilch no calls back. Even if they are swamped it is unacceptable to routinely ignore customers and customer service.

The delivery specialist may have taken you literally when you said "requested a call back if they had the item in stock so I can swing by and pick it up".

Yes there are likely shifting production for overseas market to maximise Q2 deliveries - a sign that they feel confident most QA issues have been fixed. Most of the recent model S orders (including mine) are also pushed back to mid-June delivery.
Design studio for Model X is opened to Canadian public now and all deliveries i.e 75D, 90D,P90D are scheduled for July.

I am on the same boat, I can get better support from a CS rep who is outsourced in a foreign country.
Isn't the truth though? I've never spent a 100k on a vehicle before so maybe part of the expectation is from the price point. But, the fact that I've not had a single call back or email back from my DS with the 3 or 4 inquires I've made since becoming a res holder almost 12 months ago is kind of sad. It's almost like, is this thing for real? Am I actually getting a car at some point? Do they know that I exist? You would think they would considering many seem to not have confirmed their X orders... we are the few faithful who through all the FUD listed in these forums believe they will deliver this car in an exceptable condition.

They made it sound like it was a general production slowdown to address recent quality issues. I think the whole pipeline is affected.
I know it's disappointing but trust me, you would much rather have the delay then get a car that did not meet your specifications. Your hurt feelings will heal a lot faster and easier than a poorly made car will.
