Nope. Zero accidence or moving violations in my life.
Yeah, Progressive is (was) painful for me too.
I previously had AAA, but for some reason messed up my payment at the end of last year (some how cancelled the outgoing payment in my bank’s payment system). Didn’t even realize until a month and half AFTER the policy expired. Tried to fix it, but they said I couldn’t reinstate the policy and had to use another company for 6 months before I could get a new policy from AAA. So I shopped around and ended up getting Progressive.
It was less than $700 for 6 months for two cars, 2010 Honda Fit Sport and 2019 Honda HR-V Touring. About the same as the AAA policy I had. $110-ish per month.
During this time, I was in the process of trading in the HR-V for the 2023 MYP, which I picked up 2 weeks after starting the insurance policy. So I updated it to switch the cars… went up by another $600 or so, now almost $1400 per 6 months for the Fit and MYP. $230-ish per month.
Fast forward to last month, the end of those 6 months. Policy renewal was over $2200, but discounted to $1850 or so if paid in full from the start. $360/$300 or so per month.
Decided to give Tesla Insurance a shot. It started off at $250 per month (two cars). Cheaper than the Progressive policy renewal, but only time will tell if it’s any cheaper in the long run, as my “Safety Score” is all over the place. I got as low as 53 and as high as 98 in few days I’ve had it. I need to get 85 average for the premium to match Progressive’s discounted price.
Did an online quote from AAA, in case I can’t maintain a high enough score, but it’s not really any different. So I guess I’ll just stick with Tesla Insurance for now.
