Solved: wind noise

Gasket fitment and window adhesive are variable issues but the channels created by the A pillar and the chrome trim is IMO a design cause of wind noise. The opening to the A pillar is visible in this clip of the Model Y from Sandy Munro

Can you prove moisture won’t get in there? Water is pretty good at getting into places. If it does, you’ll have made a water trap that breeds rust.

You’re just going to have to try it out and wait to see if it rusts out after a couple of years. Let us know!

I don't need to "prove" anything. Look at the picture. It's effectively a tube with an opening at the end that faces oncoming air currents. If you seal that end, I'd be interested to know how you get water inside. And I believe I will try it.

Any water running down the inside of the A-pillar will collect there if it cannot drain adequately.

How would water enter the A pillar if that opening is sealed? I don't see any other holes that are exposed to the elements.

Humidity and condensation is a possibility unless it is completely air tight and that isn't likely. Following this thread closely.

Nope. Sugru for filling the seam doesn’t seal off the channel from draining water, like that other guy is about to do.

By that measure, any metal surface inside the car is going to rust out from under you. lol

Has anyone tried to adjust door striker ? Might make the seal tighter on the window. I may give that a try to see if I see any results. I’ll check and see if it’s even mis aligned.

Not trying to be a PIA, genuinely curious. Even though the sugru isn't pushed up the A pillar, wouldn't it block the bottom of the A pillar opening and allow water to pool?

I’m sharing some shots I took this morning. I’m having an unbearable resonance that the SC claims is normal. The technology and performance of these vehicles are unsurpassed. However, the build quality and lack of QC is equivalent to a 1980’s Yugo. Let’s see if some 3M weatherstripping helps the issue.
