I got my Vin today, I placed my order March 26th.
What options is your car? I ordered on 3/22 and am also in central US. No VIN yet.
Just received a text from Tesla, saying the car is ready to deliver, and I just went into my account and booked a delivery date! It was yesterday that the advisor told me that June would be the earliest I could have the car!
No VIN but in my tesla account i have a delivery appointement for may 17 at 01 PM, no choice for date or hour 
Messaged my delivery advisor asking about my VIN and got what seemed like a scripted response that said:
"Please note that delivery is prioritized for customers who have submitted all items in their Tesla Account. Incomplete tasks may delay delivery timing. Please log in to tesla.com/teslaaccount to complete all outstanding tasks at your earliest convenience."
So I asked about selecting cash then having it switched to financing later when I get a more solid date. No response (I figure I will have to call a few times and send a few emails before I get anything back from her).
So I went on there and selected cash and uploaded my insurance card in hopes it will speed up my VIN assignment.
Then hope that I can get it switched back to financing to apply for financing thru Tesla's partners.
Wish me luck..I feel like I am going to need it.

That's not how it works. If the vehicle is literally not built, going cash will not speed up the process. It may help if multiple people are trying to purchase the same vehicle in existing vehicle (unlikely) but in this case, we're all waiting for new inventory straight from the factory. This is on a first come first serve basis.
Yes, I had a hunch about that... today has just been a bad day in general. Me wanting to rush things obviously didn't help....

My estimated delivery updated again this morning to May 9 - May 15 but still no VIN. Fingers crossed.
Two weeks ago: 5/7 - 5/27
Last week: 5/8 - 5/23
Last Friday: 1-13 weeks
Last Sunday: 5/11 - 5/20
Tuesday: 5/9 - 5/15

Yeah no.. there definitely isn't any patience going on haha!
Dates have stayed the same for a few days now so its looking like June for me!
Not necessarily, I was projected out to June and I got my Vin yesterday, I should be able to pick it up by Monday
Well that gives me a bit more hope! Mind if I ask what your order date was?
