Yes, we had the AC running all the way. I just fully charged our Model S 85 to 100% (268 miles nominal range). As per the NAV system it will take me to Des Moines directly. I was under the impression that "Dual Drive" motors provided slightly better milage. Not sure about the X model but you have a slightly bigger battery than mine and you are closer to Des Moines than us. I thought that would have been a much easier trip. BTW how many people in the care when you make the trip?

Hey Rob, I was replying to TCIslandTime but to answer your question we are always only two people. We have travelled all over this country, originally with our S85 and before there were any superchargers. Now, with our Model X and tons of superchargers, we think every thing is a breeze. Not to say we wouldn't like to see a few more superchargers like one or two to complete the I-40 highway.
Happy travels to you.

We just made our second trip from Overland Park, KS to Verona, WI in our Tesla S (85). I must say that even with 100% charged batteries it got tense in the end when the battery icon turned red on our home to Des Moines leg of the trip. For the first time we got message saying "Not to exceed 65 MPH to reach your destination" on 70 MPH speed limit highway.

I have some good news. I received a very prompt response to my email to Jonne Slemons, City Adminstrator City of Bethnay, MO. Looks like we will have a much needed Tesla Supercharger at Bethnay, MO by Q1 2019. Here is the message:

"The plans call for installation of the charger station at the Kum & Go, just ½-block west of Exit 92 on I-35. I believe their plans have been delayed a bit, however. The most recent information indicates they plan for it to be operational by the end of the 1st quarter of 2019."

This is no big deal at all. Barring cold weather, you can add about 15-20mph to whatever speed it is suggesting.

Also, why do you keep calling the town "Bethnay"?

Say what???? Same person told me that Tesla cancelled the planned SC. But great news. BTW, it's a nice stop area.

Any updates on the timing? Driving Des Moines - KC stretch in late Jan. Early Q1 would be good.
Learned that there are J1772 chargers in Limoni and Eagleville, so there are options to get a boost, but can't beat an SC for convenience.

I drive to Overland Park to Des Moines frequently, but own a Model 3, so no challenge at all related to charging. Still would like to see Bethany get done however. As a note, the Lakeside Casino has a campground area with NEMA 14-50 charging available for free. Right off of I-35 so convenient.

Was in Bethany yesterday and there's some indication of progress. Six stalls and related signage are installed on the side of the Kum&Go, but still fenced off so not accessible/activated yet. Not clear from a drive-by if the underlying electrical is done so I don't know if it's almost ready, or if they've just done the "easy" part of stalls and signage.

Thanks for the update. This is a positive move. Hope Tesla is able to get it operational by year end as shown on their SC map.

@BlueShift Please update the number of stalls to 6 on supercharge.info.

My son was traveling through Bethany on his way home from college today. Had him grab a few pics for us. :)
