WIthout looking at the details of the permit and approval of this site, it is possible that Tesla was required to put in Magic Docks in order to proceed. It is easy to assume that Tesla is at fault here for not adding more capacity to this station or putting in Magic Docks when it probably should not have, but it is not always this simple without knowing the facts.

Yeah absolutely all of this. Problem is, for a city that prides itself for being sooooo progressive and at the forefront of “green energy”, they have done veryyyy little to build out infrastructure, whether it’s level 2 charging or DC fast charging. Hypocritical if you ask me.
They're too busy funding and keeping the MTA employed (cause MTA is one of the top employers otherwise they will be voted out of office) than fixing real issues on climate change etc.

Agreed. A lot of our comments are coming from frustration. Let’s hope they double the capacity at this site in the coming future, though again, not sure if that solves the issue long term.

This place has be crowded 24/7. Frankly it’s surprising that Tesla has not opened more superchargers in Brooklyn. Barclays and Brooklyn museum are always packed as well now.

Also the increase rate for this supercharger. You might as well pay the garage fee at Barclays. It comes out the same

You think so? Regarding the blocking of TLC? How can they do that? They have access to registration for each vehicle? Just thinking out loud here.
Tesla is a private company can do what they want.

TLC use is against Tesla’s terms and conditions.

Tesla can easily block access to superchargers if they detect “suspicious activity” and then have the owner prove that the car is not a TLC car with a simple picture of their license plate. TLC use of superchargers I’m sure looks drastically different than a private car.

Nail on head!

NYC is VERY hypocritical.

You can’t have gas stoves bc planet is dying but we won’t spend a penny on ev chargers. lol. The silly thing is it won’t even cost them a penny bc Tesla is MORE than willing to pay for everything. Just give them the space. And nyc has PLENTY of space.

Btw the gas station in middle of belt is a HORRIBLE idea. It’s way too tight.

Look like only this location “lucky one” for non-Tesla charging for entire NYC and around. Infrastructure is not ready for so many EVs. I heard about people with no charging stations at home buying Tesla in NYC. This is insane!!!

There is no requirement to use Tesla Superchargers if you don't have a Tesla. There are other CCS (and CHAdeMO) fasthargers in NYC:

Well, there are many more Tesla SuC sites in the general area, so not as bad as some would make it sound for Tesla drivers. But there does seem to be a lack of DCFC south part of Brooklyn. Hope the Magic Dock site proves to businesses in the area that they may want to look into adding DCFC to their businesses.

You forgot to mention - ALMOST ALL these location in NYC pay-per-park sites. As New Yorker (if you are) you should know. This increasing price of charge much higher than any gasoline car with full tank of gas. In Manhattan parking rate can be up to 20 USD per hour.

So where are these people parking their EVs at night? If you are driving an EV, you're probably doing well enough to already be paying monthly parking at those places, so that takes care of the parking fee. If you are coming into NYC from across the bridge, maybe charge up before you go into NYC.

I did see something about NYC adding L2 charging on the sidewalk for the commoners.
