Supercharger - Chandler, AZ

After watching the traffic that was charging at Tempe, that location seemed to be mostly local traffic. I noticed no cars full of people, no cars packed with luggage or travel items, no one walking their dog.
I would assume that a Gilbert charging location would have an even higher percentage of locals than Tempe does. (it would be farther from an Interstate highway).
There are always Hertz and Turo renters too…
I suppose the apartment dwellers would be likely candidates to use these. The charger on Cooper and Baseline is close to me but sitting in the car 20 to 30 mins to save $2 to $3 isn't worth it, but if you have no other way of charging, I guess you couple it with a shopping trip or something.

You would think because we are bigger than Vegas, we would get more than them smh sigh. Same was the same with Sprints 4GLTE 😭
I’m optimistic there will be tons more in the future. The number of superchargers in the area has more than doubled in the 5 years we’ve been here and the southeast valley SCs are packed all the time. There is a demand for these things and Tesla isn’t dumb enough (I hope) to leave that much money on the table.

Drove by this site midday today. No Supercharger activity yet, of course, but I optimistically thought maybe some pavement marking might be started (it wasn’t). :)
Took some parking lot pics where the charger should be located (based on the permit info already posted).

This Chandler site would likely take some pressure off of Mills Mall location, at least from residents in the Chandler/South Tempe area. Mills mall SC is often full.
For some reason I was surprised to find Mills Mall so busy. It must mean there are a lot of apartment dwelling Tesla owners needing to charge. It does point to the need for a second location.

My friend parents live in Chandler and we stay there if we do a trip from CA. I get to stay for free and we do our arcade trip try win prizes.

It be nice to have a closer charger to his home. Even though it’s still not really next to his home but it has more chances of being on the way back and less back tracking to the Tempe or Mesa supercharger.

Phoenix is probably one of the worst close to CA cities for charging EVs. I had to back track a few times for charging so we would have enough charge for the next day commute.

Seems the residence there don’t have a huge interest in EV. Maybe the gas price still low enough for a Phoenix / Tucson resident not to care.

Gas is $4.50/gal in Phoenix; over $5 for premium. Pretty much the highest in the country outside of CA.
I think Tesla could build a supercharger here every 5-10 miles apart and they would all still be busy all day long.
There is huge interest here for EVs, but Tesla has been really slow to expand here (not sure why).

Overview from on top of the parking garage. Easy entry/exit to/from W Ray RD. Photos.

I don’t think we know if this site will be custom or pre-fab… But, this layout does not look conducive to pre-fab, so I guess custom, which probably means 2-4 weeks for core work, but no guarantees on a timely transformer install, or timely Tesla activation. :(
I say it will be done right before Memorial Day!
