Rebar……. Looks as though they may pour concrete prior to- or in addition to asphalt in the parking lot. The ground may not be firm enough for just asphalt.
Any photos from the other end of the construction area? They’re great to zoom in on and study a while! Thanks.

When we were Supercharging* in Quartzite in February, we continued our decades-long ritual of perusing Tired Iron at the far NE corner of the new SpC site. You can see those words in two, I think, of this thread's first set of photos. A lot of fun CheapChinaCast junky iron stuff, and some more, there.

Anyway, to walk the SW<=====>NE angle between our car and the store, we had to jump across some frustrating barrier ropes or wires. We certainly had no inkling we were traversing what in a few months would become this monstrous SpC site - what fun!

*We, together with Aurora (R) and Borealis (L) (RIP both😢) were one of five or six Teslas present for the Grand Opening of Arizona's first SpC - that now "old" one at Carl's Jr., way back on Nov. 14, 2013, in our first Model S. Long, long ago in Tesla's history. Six or eight stalls, I believe, comprised that original, Tesla's 33rd SpC site.

I just stopped by this new site in Quartzsite, and counted 84 charging stalls. Two look like they are for vehicles with trailers. Quite a few of the stations still have covers over them, but a few people were there charging. One lady I talked to said that she was not getting very good charging speed though. It may still be in some sort of limited capacity test mode.

Thanks for the pics! I imagine the shade is going to be more effective for one side vs the other depending upon morning or afternoon hours.
It'll be interesting to see the cars choosing shaded spots - the asymmetry should be apparent. This with the Carl Jr.'s location should not have wait times for a few yrs to come.

New photo on Twitter from TeslaCharging. Looks like a few stalls are still covered. Not sure what that is all about.

The clerk at the on-site Terribles gas station said he believes they are waiting on power upgrades. The upgrade orders are in, but haven't been performed yet. So 24 or so of the chargers will stay "bagged" until the power upgrades have been completed.

I was in the area. Photos

On closer examination ::::: Rarified air 🥴

….. as many 5-6 cars were charging at Carl’s Jr.’s

……. 2 cars charging at the stalls next door.

… shade! Shade…!! The folks charging at Main Event Way we’re choosing shaded stalls.

…. many, many stalls had nary a tire tread on the ground as though those stalls have yet to be used.

….. this is an awesome site!! The solar collection is, of course, allowing us to (‘Ride the Sun’ credit L. T. Smooth) …… shade is a premium by product of this design.

…. may the canopy here please, I asked nicely, please, be replicated across the street at Carl’s Jr and the neighboring supercharging stall site.

…. this canopy covered site ::::,and others, Date Palm AZ, Harris Rach (Colinga CA)… etc. as proof of concept show that it can be done and works well too!

ESPECIALLY IN THE DESERT!✔️✔️👊🏻
