The shorter I beams are for the big white circuit breaker panel, and the larger pair is for the charger cabinets. The charge pedestals are on site in boxes, along with the low voltage control cables on spools. Weight is of concern in a garage like this, thus the I beams to both spread load, and provide conduit space below.

Their biggest challenge is routing the 480 vac power cables up from the ground. They have chosen inside a stucco covered architectural column, and cut tiny holes inside, where a tech is rappelling down inside and hanging 100 pound rigid conduit segments. One conduit per phase, 3 phase 480 vac, plus the smaller ground conduit. This is genuinely hard work. (See yellow ropes leading down into the hole.)

Looks like they are busy out front siting the new 1.5 mW transformer conduits and possibly some power packs (too early to tell)

Why is this one going so slow...
It stands to reason that if many installations are considered "fast", that some will not be considered "fast", for "fast" to have any meaning. If construction started November 1, then that's 43 days so far (1.4 months); this might be one of the ones that helps define what "slow" means today. If this is slow, then I'm pretty happy. There are all sorts of reasons that could cause this to be slower than some of the other sites that only took 2 or 3 months to build; existing structure could have its own set of difficulties; we already see a minor example of that in this particular installation with the load-spreading beams, as well as the metal conduit. A lot of the other installations were into ground, so could follow simpler templates. Also, sometimes the hard stuff is meticulous, and then everything else just fits into place when the hard stuff is done; we don't know just with these photos.

This installation is unusual in a couple ways. First, the switchgear is on the ground level outside the garage and the charger cabinets are on the second floor. Second, the cables between those are run in conduits through a hollow column in the parking structure.

43 days is nothing, call back in two years if it isn't still open....like another SpC 'not to be mentioned here' location nearby that has reportedly been under construction of over 650 days.

Looks like a whole slew of them will be going on-line by the end of 2017 (probably all on the very last day).

New photos. Surprisingly there was a worker there early on a Saturday morning.

This location has to be one of their more expensive installs given just the 10 stalls going in. Real commitment on Tesla's part to provide charging in this expensive real estate area too. Looks much more planning/labor intensive than other site installs I've seen around here.

Last weekend we met friends at Doppio Zero very near there for dinner before heading to a frighteningly empty movie theater across the street. Really great meal so if anyone ends up charging there down the road, would highly recommend. Steak, lasagna, pizza -- all really good. Might need to move car depending on SOC but worth the extra effort.

Checked in with the permit on this project, last Tuesday 12th, there was a mechanical anchors inspection for the mounting of the QED switcher, report said it was in compliance. Then on Thurs 19th there was a ground fault protection inspection--passed. Hopefully with these behind them the installation will be soon. Too bad the holidays are right around the corner though.

There’s going to be heavy demand at this supercharger. Having it charge almost twice as fast will be a welcome trait for those who visit it.
Yes, heavy demand...if people can find it. It's got to be the most obscure Supercharger location that I've seen: In a parking garage in the back of a small shopping complex. On the second floor above a row of public chargers.

Heavy demand is polite speak for Apple employees near the new campus.... just wait till it opens. I bet you’ll find it by the huge line of Teslas out the garage, filled with nerdy people trying to work on their phones with TACC engaged :D
