Supercharger - Harlingen, TX

Swung by the Harlingen location on the way back from SPI. Tremendous amount of progress since the photos posted just last Thursday.

All the big boxes (V3 supercharger cabinets) plus the smaller (panel?) box are installed on their concrete pads. All 12 superchargers are mounted plus posts installed between them for signs. Cables still need to be run. There is a big pile of dirt to be removed.

But at this pace (fingers crossed) it should be operational soon.

Photo 1: a wide view of the entire installation.
Photo 2: looking down the row of installed chargers, cabinets at the far end. Lots of cable still to run.
Photo 3: looking from back at two of the three V3 supercharger cabinets. Inside view of one of them.
Photo 4: side view of the big boxes installed on their concrete pads.

Great photos - it will be a real showpiece and excellent location for the Valley
It is indeed a very nice and easy access location, and should look quite impressive when cleaned up. There will be plenty of room to get in and out once the fence is removed. One of the two lots near the street is under development as well - these front lots are obviously intended for restaurants based on the already completed parking around them.

I knew the utility transformer still needed to come. The permit listed a foundation for a utility transformer so I figured that the power company itself would be supplying the transformer.

From my Monday photos there appears to be a big pad in front of all the installed white boxes, but view of it was mostly blocked by stuff laying against the fence.

Never mind, I see post #39 shows an unobstructed view of the recent concrete pour for the pads.

Went by again while doing another errand. Two Magic Valley trucks and worker installing some wires and conduit.

That's the power transformer from the power company and is a big milestone
You know, I was just reading the Chattanooga thread about their new supercharger site, and that poor site has been sitting there for almost 2 months waiting for the power company to bring their transformer. Absolutely everything else is finished.

I’ve heard the same thing happens quite a bit in California … not sure if it’s a supply chain issue or just low priority for utility companies for superchargers

I suspect a lot of it has to do with the local/regional electric company.

Interestingly I hadn’t ever heard of the Magic Valley Electric Co-op serving the Harlingen area. Most homes in our area are powered by AEP Texas which is a very large energy company.
