Wonder why no chargers at the rest stop - seems it would make sense for Hamptons goers:

There are chargers at the rest stop but you need an adapter to charge the Tesla.

So, I have been in constant contact with my contacts in Islandia Village hall, as well as Tesla corporate. The construction is 100% complete on Islandia, the utility has signed off, engineering has signed off, and Village hall has signed the permits, and OK'd the operation. Tesla corporate is now the holdup (shocker), and their supercharger team will be reaching out to me within the next 3 days, hopefully, with more exact information on when they will flip the switch.

I checked the Islandia, NY supercharger station on 5-29-18; still not operational. I noticed that the primary wires for the entire station are coiled up on the utility pole waiting to be connected to the utility. Also, the electric meter hasn't been installed. I'll check again & update again soon.

Looks like construction on the valley stream started after Islandia yet VS is already up and running. Not that one has anything to do with the other, but it is same PSEG utilitiy, so hopefully Islandia will be running soon.

Still shows under construction on supercharge.info. It’s a shame they couldn’t go live last week for the Memorial Day Hamptons rush. Seems like it easily could have happened if all worked together.

Minor update, with no change. Tesla and the local union seem to be in disagreement about something. I'm guessing it's price to install the transformer and connect to the grid. Islandia village hall cant get answers from either side, but 1049 says they are waiting on tesla to agree to terms. They are likely trying to megotiate terms, since they will be installing a fairly large number of chargers of the coming years.

The strange thing is that the valley stream supercharger went online already and I recall watching progress on the southampton charger from construction to operation and it went pretty quickly as well.

I called up yesterday, the rep who I spoke to had no information. He said just keep checking for it on the map. Very frustrating...

Maybe I'm naive, but I'd think contractually, all of these different elements would have been agreed upon prior to the start of construction.

As of yesterday 6/18 still looks same as in St50’s post. All ready and no meter. I agree with Ken. All should have been agreed upon up front. Had that been done, it would have gone live in May.
