Supercharger - Soldotna, AK

I'm not sure if you're joking, but surely they have a way to commission this without requiring a 3700-mile RT drive through a giant charging wilderness...
They're waiting for Elon's Boring Company to dig a tunnel between PG and Soldotna. Then they're going to install a rail transporter system that will carry a car the 3700 miles so the tech can commission the site. Elon said it'll be done in 2 weeks.

Just found out we're moving to Alaska next month. Realllllly looking forward to Soldotna opening soon now! Hoping that these L3 chargers are completed by next summer since they're likely to be done before the SC network expands anywhere else in the state beyond Soldotna? Though, that's also predicated on being able to get the long-promised CCS adapter too... Anyone seen signs of those other DCFC's under construction at all?

Use plugshare and you can see some of the DCFC's under construction on the highway system up here. There are others as only one group that is putting them in has updated plugshare with "under construction" pins. There are a couple of operational Chademo/CCS units in the state already - but not much help in the drive to/from Canada... Most you'll need your own adapter at too. Fairbanks has an opening ceremony coming up soon for their first first charger.

As far as Canada - Haines Jct and Whitehorse have non-tesla fast chargers too. Again, Plugshare is your friend here. From a member in our Tesla group, the Tesla Chademo adapter was hit and mostly miss at being able to use them...

Bottom Line: Even if Tesla doesn't build out the fast charging network here "soon", it's still coming. Every year it seems to get better, but the biggest push is that finally the VW settlement money is being used.

Two weeks till we find out what the next Alaska supercharger project is?

Haha! I think the next updates may not come until April 1. :)

The Parks highway from Anchorage to Fairbanks would seem to be the next logical step, but given the lack of rumors so far (Tesla is often working with communities years in advance of actual construction), I wouldn't expect that before summer/fall 2023...

I announce a competition: the shortest time between charging at Prince George Supercharger and Soldotna, AK Supercharger (same Tesla)!

@GuyHall suggested something like this a bunch of years ago - though his destination was Fairbanks: Trophy for Fastest BEV Time From US Washington/Canada Border to Fairbanks, Alaska

With a CHAdeMO (or future CCS) adapter, there are only two large DCFC gaps: between Fairbanks and Haines Junction YT (492 miles) and between Marsh Lake YT and Kitwanga BC (672 miles).
