Surprise Check from Tesla

I just received a check from Tesla for $28.00 attached to a blank invoice form with no explanation of what it is for. I haven't purchased any accessories since I bought the car last September. Anyone else get one?

Maybe they calculated that they overcharged you at a supercharger or something?

I heard something about registration fee overpayment.

i.e New car registration in FL is $450 but renewal/transfer is $250... but Tesla here always seems to charge $450.

I remember trying to transfer plates and they told me it would cost MORE than getting the new plates. So maybe something to that (registration fees).

Same happened to me about a month ago. I received a check for $178, no explanation.

I had gotten a refund mailed on registration fees also (Florida). I showed them a FL fee printout at initial pickup showing that they were overcharging but Tesla is not very flexible.

I'm in Florida. We picked up our Model Y in September of last year. We just got a registration fee refund check for $124.

Same here in NJ. Memo on check contained "registration" so I'm assuming it was a correction to the original fee payment.

I looked closer at the fine print on the bottom of the check, that's it.

Probably a rounding error somewhere in registration fees or taxes. I'd just deposit the check and move on.

I found this thread because I got a check for $145 with no explanation. I was initially concerned that cashing the check would mean that I had accepted a settlement offer for some defect that I didn't even know about, but it looks like another Tesla idiosyncrasy.

I ordered mine 2/6/22 and took delivery 3/29/22. Had to wait until mid May for Tesla’s title department to finish my title so I could put on my Purple Heart plates.
