Unfortunately this is how Waze looks when laying on the charger. No GPS.
If you need to lift the tray with the Taptes, try first lowering the access door, then lifting the tray and door together. Voila, no touching. Not worth the effort to try and bevel the edge IMO.has anyone beveled the top of the taptes
pad to not bind when top cover is opened?
I like everything about the taptes,
except how it binds,
which causes it to raise out of the bottom
channel when upper access door is opened...

My taptes fits perfect, charges perfect. It's a slow charge, buts solid. Phone doesn't slide at all and cover closes fine.
It doesn't do that for me. The pad doesn't move when I open or close the door. I don't think it touches the pad at all. That only happens when I lift the tray with the Taptes to get to the USB ports while the door is open (which is easily avoided as mentioned above). Perhaps yours isn't seated correctly?butt still doesn’t solve simple problem
of opening the top access door to place
or retrieve a phone, top of top access door
pinches down on taptes pushing it up and
out of bottom slot meant to retain pad in slot.
+1. When I received mine and placed it back-to-back with the OEM non-charging pad, the dimensions were the same. I get no movement or rubbing/touching and am very happy with it. Placing the rubber pads was easy. Ordered 12/29 and received 1/16.It doesn't do that for me. The pad doesn't move when I open or close the door. I don't think it touches the pad at all. How tall is your pad exactly?
I find it hard to believe that this is normal. Quite a few people here have the Taptes, and as far as I'm aware nobody else has reported this issue.
There is at least a 5mm gap between the pad and the door in my car:
Can you please submit a picture similar to the one above? I think most folks have the issue where the tray that the taptes sits binds with the lid when the tray is lifted to access the USB area. You have to close the lid a bit and lift them both together to keep from binding. However there are very few issues with the lid itself not opening and closing properly when the tray is not being lifted. Not sure how a mass manufactured item like this could vary WRT dimensions that would cause the isolated lid binding that you have, and not for others. Is it possible your taptes is not sitting flush on the tray (felt feet not positioned properly), or is not sitting fish at the bottom where it slides under the clip-on piece that used to hold the charger plug? Is your original pad still there, under your taptes? Just looking for reasons you may be having issues others are not.uhmm, the binding is discussed right here on this thread
start reading from around post #360, your the first that
has said you have full clearance throug out the range
of movement of top access door, btw you didn’t report
the height of your pad?
my taptes is TALLER then tesla OEM pad, and tesla
OEM pad is tapered at top to allow top access door
clearance, even though it is shorter in height!
how tall is your tesla OEM pad?
how tall is your taptes pad?
anyone have success at beveling the taptes pad
to equal (or just clear) the tesla OEM pad?
No I'm not. You are confusing this with lifting up the tray to get to the USB ports while the door is open. But AFAIK nobody else has reported that just opening and closing the access door causes it to touch the Taptes.uhmm, the binding is discussed right here on this thread

Did you? What I'm seeing there is this video in post #374 which clearly shows that the door opens and closes just fine without touching the pad:this was reported earlier by others on this thread, did
you read those posts?

Here’s what mine looks like.
well i ordered one because the $50 difference is essentially the equivalent to a meal out for me, and if I'm gonna be stuck using something everyday i want to have it be something i thoroughly enjoy. plus my wife and son both have non-qi compatible phones, so the wired charging is what convinced her this would be a good addition for both. also.... i just don't like the idea of adhesive or stickies being used. which is why i initially didnt order the jeda, and i know taptes has this.
taptes is cheap, but i've been told you get what you pay for. i've heard it slides around, it's not as grippy on the surface, and worst of all
i've heard that the taptes has issues with GPS being used on it while charging, like there's intereference on google maps and waze. problematic as i use waze when i do long drives
