350 miles is plenty

Out of interest I tried from my house to Edinburgh in ABRP. I have no idea what the various Merc model numbers represent

MS New model, non-Plaid
117.4 kWh, 289 Wh/mi, 1 Charging stop 15 min, Distance 386 mi, Driving time 5 h 28 min (Range 300)

MS Plaid
122.2 kWh, 301 Wh/mi, 1 Charing stop 18 min, distance 386 mi, Driving time 5 h 28 min (Range 288)

EQE 350+ with 22kW charger
124.7 kWh, 306 Wh/mi, 1 charging stop 27 min, distance 388 mi Driving time 5 h 31 min (Range 269)

Much of a muchness, provided that an appropriate charger was available when needed

EQE 500 4Matic
131.4 kWh, 322 Wh/mi 1 Charging stop 30 min, Distance 388 mi, Driving time 5 h 31 min (Range 254)

EQE 53 4Matic with 22kW charger
138.4 kWh, 339 Wh/mi, 1 Charging stop 35 min, Distance 388 mi Driving time 5 h 31 min (Range 239)

This is what I've found when comparing 2 cars over a years similar usage. One with and one without a heat pump. The heat pump has been <9% efficient during the summer period and <13% over the full year!

The recently announced Volvo EX30 looks rather tasty as a compact SUV. Their mid range model coming in at £38,545 with 298 miles WLPT range, 0-62 in 5.3 seconds. While their cheapest model comes in at £33,795 with 213 miles.

Interior looks great too. Quite a compelling new EV.

Style over substance. Is it based on an ICE platform? Bear in mind also that like every other legacy OEM except BYD, they lose money on every EV they sell, so totally unsustainable. Will Volvo be around in 4 years???

I really like the look of that. Nicely produced video too, credit to Volvo.

It's not based on a ICE platform, unlike the XC40 Recharge it's a brand new platform designed for BEV.

I reckon they've come up with a potential winner in a very competitive segment with the EX30.

No, this is there new all electric platform

Considering Volvo committed several years ago to be selling only EV’s by 2030, my guess is they are better positioned to survive than most other companies and will be making money on these sooner than others.

I agree, first look seems pretty compelling paired with the price tag they currently have

I’m very interested to see these in person in the future and see what a tear down reveals.

I’m also curious how they are evolving their battery tech and what changes they are making internally now that these latest models were designed and built to be EV’s.
