Tesla Unionization

There are some parallel processes of getting other prominent Swedish companies to join the unions. Klarna has signed the collective agreement. Spotify are still under pressure but has not caved yet. I wonder if Spotify would join the collective agreement if the union could force them to remove Spotify from Tesla cars worldwide... :-/

There are reports that since Tesla is working around the strike that IF Metal is trying to take the sympathy strikes to other countries to prevent Tesla from getting new vehicles into Sweden:

- We know for sure that they unloaded cars in Denmark. And they will probably try to do it in Norway too, says Tommy Wreeth, chairman of Transport.

Transport is now conducting a dialogue with its Nordic sister unions about trying to prevent unloading in their countries as well. In addition, the blockade against Tesla will be extended to all Swedish ports as of Friday.-

We have a close collaboration both in the Nordics and in the world. It is clear that we will find out how they are trying to get around our blockade, he says.

And I guess deliveries in Sweden are at least a bit delayed because of union.

Last week, the Tesla strike escalated when the Transport union introduced a blockade against the loading and unloading of Tesla cars in Sweden's four largest ports. The purpose was to stop the import of new Teslas to the Swedish market.

But the importation of Tesla cars has continued. This is not least noticeable at Tesla's delivery center in Huddinge outside Stockholm.

Under a white party tent next to the gate, IF Metall's pickets in yellow reflective vests have installed themselves.

- There are deliveries of cars all the time, says striker Arturo Vasquez.

This Thursday, when Dagens Arbete is visiting, they have counted 36 new cars that arrived at the workshop. Inside the gates, the brand new cars are made ready for the customers by, for example, getting Swedish registration plates. Without that work, Tesla would have major problems delivering new cars to customers in Central Sweden. But so far none of the auto mechanics who work here have chosen to join the strike.

At the same time, the Transport union received information that Tesla was unloading the cars in Danish ports.

When the Danish registered transports started theirs, the Polish ones started to take over, then Lithuanian ones but also German and Dutch ones.

- Last Friday, 72 new cars arrived on 12 different trucks. Almost all had Lithuanian plates. A couple of Dutch ones too, says picket guard Håkan Sundman.

Not only that - if other companies are stopped from repairing Tesla cars then Tesla will do it themselves:

Eventually the whole country will be on strike and everyone will get 130 percent salary increase. How the unions get the money if the strikes go on for several years?
I think only Tesla employees are going on strike and getting paid 130%. The other unions participating in "sympothy actions" are not getting any pay from the union, and are still working. (They still deliver mail, just not to Tesla. They still repair/paint vehicles, just not Teslas, etc.)

But we have heard that has resulted in some companies have less work than they have staff for.

As a former union member while working at DHL, I quickly understood how Unions increased costs while adding little to no value to the product, the company, or it's union members. As other have stated on this thread, the union is the one that benefits the most. Maybe it's time to adapt and reconsider this outdated practice that seems to encourage confrontation and ineficiency rather than all working together and doing the collective best to accomplish a common goal

"Tesla Blockade and Spare Parts in Sweden

-One of the largest independent Tesla workshops in Sweden, Grufman Bil, posted this announcement on their FB page to address the ongoing union strike against Tesla.

-Announcement
As you have surely noticed, there is an ongoing blockade against Tesla orchestrated by IF Metall, supported by several other trade unions. The latest development claims that the supply of spare parts would be affected by additional sympathy actions. These blockades and conflicts do not affect our operations in any way. Our stock of the most common parts is good, the stock of windshields is very good and there is nothing to suggest that the supply of spare parts would be affected at all. In addition, we continue to work with Teslas without any obstacles.Tesla distributes its Swedish spare parts from its central warehouse in Rosersberg, operated by DSV. Smaller local courier companies are used for distribution.Should this work be stopped or disrupted in any way, the supply of spare parts will revert to how it was up until 6 months ago, i.e., all parts will be transported by truck from the European warehouse in the Netherlands. This would extend the delivery time from normally 2 days to about 4 days. With our stock, this would not affect our operations at all.

- Grufman Bil"

"Today the Musicians' Union has informed SVT (Swedish Television) and Swedish Radio that the soundtrack to SVT's major project, "The History of Sweden", is not allowed to be played on the music streaming services that are available in Tesla cars' media players. This concerns, for example, music streaming services like Spotify, Apple Music, and Tidal. The blockade will remain in place until Tesla has signed a collective agreement."

Lol, this is like parody

Now only way to Tesla drivers to enjoy Swedish music is Vtuber-Covers:

Right!? Next it’ll be the Hamburger Makers Union refusing to sell burgers to people in the drive-thru in Tesla’s.

Posts were deleted over in the investor thread about Tesla winning another lawsuit, this one in appeals court, about not allowing UAW shirts on the production line.

A couple of the usual suspects disagreed with the ruling having clearly not read the contents of the article where a very specific and valid reason was given by Tesla for not allowing the shirts.

Tesla has Team Wear uniforms. This is company policy. This clothing is specifically designed to protect the cars from being damaged during assembly and such. The Team Wear also helps Tesla identify different workers in the factory.

Tesla also indicated in court documents that they allow union stickers on the uniforms if someone wishes to do so.

Lastly, I remind everyone that in spring of 2022, Elon publicly stated that the UAW was welcome to hold a union vote at their convenience. So have at it UAW, IF Metall but don’t be surprised when the majority of Tesla employees tell you to go pound sand. You’ve long since revealed yourselves as undesirable entities in general.

I don't know how anyone could support what IF Metal is doing to Tesla in Sweden. It's the epitome of bully tactics and it reeks of vindictiveness. It should be up to the Swedish Tesla employees whether or not they unionize, NOT the union forcing it by applying pressure using every resource they have available to do so.

Unions should only form because they are needed, NOT because they want to grow dues and increase power. 😔

Wait until some rogue country attacks Sweden then beg Elon to use Starlink for communication and to use Tesla semi trucks and cars to transport foods and other things.

Many neighbourhoods in Sweden (and the number of such neighbourhoods is rapidly increasing) are extremely violent and crime ridden, with murders and gang rapes. Pretty soon the police, or any citizen for that matter, will be able to enter them only with a Cybertruck - Tesla should condition sales of Cybertrucks on incarcerating the entire IG Metal union leadership - and all the other "sympathy" participating unions. In particular the ridiculous music union...
