With all this bad news being reported I was expecting a problem for a Saturday morning delivery. The representative didn't answer two emails over the last two days asking for the status.
Today I called and they confirmed that delivery was on track for tomorrow.
I drove to Pond Springs about 3 pm and found my car. A short conversation with one of the employees driving it inside for a prep confirmed a delivery for tomorrow.
They also said about 40 cars were delivered today.
I guess I am lucky, only about 30 days between receipt of Cashiers Check and delivery.

For all I know that’s mine behind yours. Red P+ White interior???
I think it's a P+? Don't remember for sure though.

thinking about canceling my order. They said they would repair it but it won't be the same as new, or they can assign new VIN after a few weeks. Maybe I should just bail on Telsa and get my $$ back.
Any reason why it wouldn't be as good? Windshields are replaced all of the time, I would think they would ensure a good job. But if you don't want that, I would request a new VIN. They appear to be cranking out the P models much faster these days. I've heard new orders with no reservations getting their P in a couple of weeks. You would likely have priority, so probably even quicker than that.

I've had pretty quick responses from my IDA this week. I was told on Friday by the customer service # that it was supposed to be delivered to the SC on Tuesday. I emailed the IDA on Tuesday and he replied that night saying it wasn't actually going to be delivered till Thursday for a Saturday delivery. That had me pretty nervous honestly. So I emailed him again on Thursday and got an OOO message. I get that, everyone deserves time off. I would have preferred to have been told up front in the email on Tuesday though. Anyway, I emailed the other IDA from the OOO and he was also very prompt in responding that day saying everything was looking good for Saturday. He also asked me for the payoff on my trade in again which I found odd since that was already done before and the previous IDA contacted them directly. I let him know that and he said that he would contact them on Friday. So I emailed him again today and he said I'm all set for delivery tomorrow.

At this point, I'm finally allowing myself to have some excitement about getting the car. I know it could still be rescheduled, but there have been a lot of confirmations this week. I'll update tomorrow.

Yes, because the glass is also the roof and it has already rained multiple inches all week while it sat outside and the interior is drenched and will smell like mildew on a brand new $80,000 car. A normal car maker would just find me a nearby match and ship it over. But not Tesla. They pre-sell everything and have to make a new one which means another 3 months wait and I miss the tax credit. Plus the overall unpleasant experience I have had prior to this point and now my Ida is on vacation.

I can't even talk to them to discuss options. I been on the phone all morning trying to get ahold of either pond springs or corporate. I did talk to someone last night after 1 hour hold and he said he was powerless to help me. This is not a real car company. I hate to say it. There is no representative of the company I can talk to about something I already paid for.

I think you can check for water ingress pretty easily. But I understand if you just want a new car and not bother with it. From what I've been reading here and on the Facebook group, Tesla is cranking out P models much faster these days. Some people are getting theirs within 2 weeks of ordering. You are almost assuredly able to get the full tax credit.

You might have to just go to Pond Springs and talk to someone directly there

I am so excited for no reason right now lol. Randomly checked my tesla account and my Vin is finally assigned. Funny thing is that I got my VIN a day after i ordered at the end of August, it is just now finally showing as assigned in my account. Only 1 week left, I am really hoping they call my the middle of the week and say I can go pick my car up early.

Now they have removed the VIN from my account. Odd. I finally got ahold of someone at corporate and he could not help me at all. But he said it was weird they didn't ever show me a car, even if it was damaged, and hinted there might not have really been a car. Anyway, according to him, there is nobody at Tesla after 5pm Friday who could help me until next Monday at 11am. That's crappy customer service.

Their system only shows you the VIN about 7 days from delivery appointment, even if you are already assigned one.

That's weird. I was talking to one of my delivery person while a tech was trying to locate a couple of plastic clips for me. The way he told me is that they didn't even know that your rear glass was cracked until it was being pulled into the service bay for prep. Somebody spotted it as it was pulling in and called a halt to the delivery process. There was definitely people still there at 5pm on Friday. I didn't leave until almost 6pm. They told me they sometimes delivery cars late into the night if delays accumulate throughout the day. They should be open today though. Maybe you can swing by?

I picked my car up on Thursday, I got there about 11:45am for my noon appointment. They did not have the car ready until about 1. They had someone do a quick walkthrough. Found some residue on one of the doors, they took it back to get it cleaned off. By the time it was all done, it was about 2PM that I left with the car.

The receptionist gal showed me her screen and it looked like they were planning on doing 100 or so deliveries that day! They seemed to be doing one every 5-10 minutes, they had a long day ahead of them.

So I got my car today! It’s been raining like crazy here, and rained most of the way down to Cedar Springs. Luckily it wasn’t raining while I was there. I arrived about 10:20 for a 10:30 appointment. I checked in and the immediately asked for my fedex and to sign that I received the car. I guess this is normal, but I said I would like to inspect the car before signing anything. They said that was no problem. They came and got me to check out the car about 5 minutes later. They did the delivery outside for me, but it was a great process. Probably spent about 10 minutes going over the car, but I never felt rushed at all. Then I let them know I had to move a few things from my trade in and she said to just drive the car over next to it and come in to sign when done. It was a really smooth process overall. I was out of there by 11.

No major issue, just a small fitment problem on the driver side mirror cap. I’ll see if I can adjust it myself before dealing with the service center. Paint looked great overall and the typical alignment issues on the trunk / hood were no problem for me.

So I am now paid in full. Still no VIN (I was mistaken that I had one).

Advancing this to the top of the list... Sorry for the long post but this should be helpful for those just finding this thread.

The "typical" Tesla delivery sequence is generic and does not apply to Texas in my experience. The sequence should be:
  • Order
  • Prepare for Delivery (indicate payment method, provide insurance info. and driver's license, trade/no trade) Full cash payment with no trade appears to be the fastest process.

  • VIN/MVPA [Motor Vehicle Purchase Aggreement] contains Pro-Forma Motor Vehicle Purchase Agreement which lists VIN and all amounts due. VIN's have been known to change after assignment; in my case, it changed after payment.

  • Payment Payment via electronic funds transfer or cashiers check; if trade involved, trade offers finalized now. If paying cash, wait for the electronic payment link to show up on your account. Paying cash by FedEx'd cashiers check does not speed the process and can cause other disconcerting issues, like payment receipt never being acknowledged in your account.

  • Shipping shipment from CA to your local Service/Delivery Center. Cars move from factory to staging lot in Lathrop, CA. From there shipped by truck directly to SC or to BNSF rail hub in Richmond, CA. In-bound rail deliveries (usually) ship to the BNSF's Ft. Worth hub near Alliance Airport (AKA Rail Jail) for truck transport to SC's. In the past (July/August) cars have been misdirected and stuck in OKC (search thread for @SleepingLesson posts). This is the step where things tend to get stuck. In the recent past (late August) cars spent weeks in Rail Jail awaiting truck transport to SC's. United Road appears to handle a majority of the truck transport but cars do get transported by other shippers (no one has figured out how to track shipments by other trucking firms). United Road data can be delayed with delivery data not showing up until days after arrival.

  • Appointment, first occurs once shipment has started, done by ISA, currently it is not unusual for appointments to get rescheduled at least once due to "logistics issues". Once shipment has started your ISA will have little real info on location of your vehicle. Give two weeks time for shipment then make a good friend at your delivery center, preferably the Orientation Manager (get their email address, you may need it later). After two weeks of transport, the delivery center should have a pretty good idea of where your car is and when its delivery could realistically occur (much better than your ISA).

If you delivery appointment starts getting pushed out to over 30 days past payment, start efforts to escalate. Emails directed to your SC's Orientation Manager, Texas Regional Delivery Manager (Mark Mason), Western General Delivery Manager (Brett Zriny), and Director of Field Delivery Operations (Kyle Pearson) have been shown to be effective.;)

  • Registration FedEx Package expect to see this the day before your first scheduled delivery. The package contains registration forms for the car necessary to title and register your car in Texas. Sign then and return in the included FedEX envelope. If you wish you can hand the sealed envelope to your Orientation Specialist when you take delivery of the car.

  • Delivery be patient, they are pushed to their limits delivering cars to Texas, our recent rains make delivery all that more challenging. Tesla may arrange for your transport via Lyft to the SC if you ask (appears common for those of us who experienced logistics delays). Upon leaving the SC, ear to ear grins commence immediately. :)

Some things in your post make no sense, cracks in windshield, roof or rear glass panels would not allow water leaks to enter the car. These are all laminated glass panels and it takes a large about of force to produce an actual hole that could pass water. Now a structural glazing sealant failure could result in leakage. It sounds as if you haven't had the opportunity to actually see the car and are relying on the representations of a potentially misinformed individual with no actual technical knowledge of the car's condition.

Skip dealing with your ISA, work directly with the Orientation Manager at your delivery center. Even if a "new" vehicle is warranted I wouldn't think it would take more than 30 days for it to get to you. You're 100% paid and I would think therefore jump the line. Think about it, there aren't that many configurations so you would likely get the next one of your configuration that comes off the assembly line or they would redirect one originally slated for delivery to a non-prepayment state.
