Still about 2 weeks before I take delivery in WA. I feel like a 5 year old on Xmas eve waiting for Santa!

Goodluck Trav - I have been in your position recently. It is worth it. Your gunna luv it!

Today I felt like a goose.

Last night I reversed from a parking spot to where my wife was standing - she pointed out that one of my reverse lights wasn't working. (You guys can probably surmise what happened next).

So naturally I get the wife to sit in the driver's seat so I can repeat the experiment (given the weight on the driver's seat is the on/off button for the car).

So this morning, I rock on up to St Leonards - (Really great how all the Tesla drivers waive at you!) And I go on in and tell the receptionist and her offsider what the problem is. They both start giggling and tell me that it is a very common misapprehension.

I too have obviously fallen victim to this Tesla prank. Apparently there is only one reverse light - the other is supposed to be a red fog light or something. Of course I can't test out that fog light theory until either the wife comes home or I throw some kind of deadweight onto the driver's seat.

Still feel like a goose... But any reason to drive the Tesla is a fun one - and the car did enjoy the drive to home base.

Puddle lights looking good!

Puddle lights looking good!

Thanks Dborn, the front ones just slotted straight into the old puddle light holders.

But the back doors don't have puddle lights *shock horror*. You have to hack into the plastic of your car door and then grab a connection from the side red light from which to run a new wire. I then used a credit card type card to hold the puddle light on each door. One of them squeezed tightly in the door (after widening the hole with a file) and didn't need any further adhesive. The other was also squeezed tight but for more abundant caution I put double sided tape on one half of the credit card type card.

The kids absolutely love them. And often I am found opening the rear door just to see the wolf!

Your Model S is being prepared for pickup or delivery.

You Beauty!

i have to warn you Trav, these cars are possessed, when ever your within sight of it the headlights look at you and it puts thoughts into your head "go on, take me for another drive" and because the car is so damn good looking you can't resist looking at it and the headlights will get you every time, and don't think parking it out of sight helps because the car somehow forces you to leave your phone or some other item in the car, you have to go back to the garage and retrieve it and there of course is the "car" staring at you with the look of victory over its human, you only have a short time before taking delivery of your Model S, enjoy your freedom and don't go watching any Stephen King movies in the meantime.

You were right Dborn,

Today I put my car in its coffin in the city and it was no trouble at all. It was all about educating yourself on the limits of your car, and what sensors and probes, mirrors and open windows can do for you all working in a perfect harmony - like an orchestra.

Without any real trouble at all, the car practically jumped into its tight squeeze and went to bed for the day.

So the moral of the story is - you certainly do get used to it. Like... well like... all sorts of things that are hard at first but that you get used to later...(examples omitted to protect the guilty).

Glad to hear it's easier now, ZTrekus.
mine has been in production well over a month, now?
Will it EVER say "in transit"? Or will it just turn up one day????

There was a post a few weeks ago saying that the My Tesla portal is updated manually, so the status of your car may well be inaccurate (or at least out of date).

Ours was in production from the 19th of August and has been in transit since the 26th of August - I'd like to think it took longer than 7 days to build given other posters experiences.

So worry not - if yours is truly still in production then maybe they are just making sure they assembly it properly!

Given the vagaries of supposed manual status updates and using the info that Brewster dug up ... this is all a bit of an educated guess ..... Anyone whose car changed to "in transit" in the last week is probably heading to the wharf in the morning.

You will be able to see the trucks arriving on this webcam
Oakland: Harbour Container Terminal

The container ship Coral Bay docked an hour ago , 20 odd hours late, at berth 22 after sitting off shore from San Francisco for a day. Allegedly arriving Sydney Oct 3. This info could of course be completely misleading and Brewster could be on the Tesla payroll to spread spurious information to TMC members in order to stop them annoying the Delivery Specialists for information.

Is this what it feels like to be a stalker?????

Great stuff Wattup and very funny :)
I don't even know whether the cars are loaded in Oakland or Long Beach!

I think I read somewhere that they load the cars at Long Beach, although that is much further from the factory than Oakland.

Mine went "in transit" on 12th August, so I'm hoping it will arrive in Melbourne on the Cap Pasado on 18th September (via NZ and Sydney). James the delivery specialist says I will have it by the end of the month.

I received an email a couple of months ago, telling me not to take any notice of the status in "My Tesla" because I would get personal email updates instead.

Thanks, Alan- not sure what you did, but it says "In transit" now. The service here is excellent!!

The Tesla staff probably monitor the forum posts!

The next step should be an email from Tesla (website at teslamotors.com) advising you "Your Final Invoice has been published to your My Tesla account" - I had an idea that this meant the car was a week away from delivery but as I've just received the invoice and the car still isn't due for another month I'd say my memory is wrong. The car is getting a dual charger fitted (in Australia) and the invoice for that will come separately, so that'll give a better indication of the delivery time for our car.

Time to get the fast charger sorted out...
