Time from delivery scheduling to VIN?

Still no VIN. 9/22 delivery.

Either everything is fine, or the dude is going to call me at the 11th hour to say the car isn’t here.

It’s almost as if they just shuttle a ton of cars to regions, see where they land, then match them up to people. If they don’t march, it’s a delayed delivery.

Delivery Date Received: 9/7/18 (Email only. Very responsive rep.)
VIN Received: 9/19/18 (Just showed up in my account. No other communication.)
Scheduled Delivery: 9/25/18 (9AM. Wish me luck!)

No res/Non-Owner
Deep Blue Metallic, Blk Int, LR, AWD, 19", PUP, EAP, FSD
7/19/18 Config | Est delivery Sept '18 - Nov '18 | VIN 9/19/18 - 88,3XX | Del. 9/25/18

How did you escalate? Does it really matter if ultimately you’re taking delivery in a few days? In other words, if you hadn’t escalated it would they have suddenly noticed that you didn’t have a VIN and not schedule delivery?
I called Tesla's customer service line. The lady I spoke with was very nice and I told her I had spoken to a couple of DAs over the last couple weeks and one owed me a call two days ago with VIN (my delivery is in a couple days). She said "that is unusual, let me open a case to escalate" - she said it could take 1-2 days. Then I checked my account today and boom VIN. My DA also magically sent me a copy of my Monroney sticker in PDF.

I'd recommend given all the reported missed delivery dates and reschedules at the last minute to be proactive and check in with Tesla. For people like me who moved things around in our travel schedule to accommodate Tesla's quarterly push (my previous confirmed delivery was early Oct but then they asked if I could take pre-9/30), time is indeed real money. I'd be extremely peeved if they missed the narrow delivery window I created to accommodate their 9/30 numbers.

Btw, what AWD config did you get?

Thanks! When you say you called their customer service line, which number did you use? Just want to make sure I’m calling the right place

Devastated.

My account currently says I'm scheduled for delivery on 9/22, this Saturday. But I now know that isn't going to happen.

I still have no VIN assigned, but calling Tesla's main lines directly, they've consistently said "that's not abnormal. You should be getting one soon, in as little as 24h before delivery." I'm paying cash, so I assumed that's what it was related to.

Today I called my local delivery center to see if the car was (at least) physically there. He looked up my name, saw there was no VIN associated with me, and said that there was a 100% chance that I'll be getting a call from a Delivery Specialist to reschedule delivery.

So if you haven't heard from your DS at all, and your account information is in limbo, call your local Tesla delivery center, and dial the extension for Service. They'll be able to look you up and tell you what reality is.

I guess now I just wait for the terrible call from the DS and hope I'm not delayed more than a week.

That sucks. Did they offer to escalate your case when you called the 888 number? After getting my VIN from the escalation the other day I called again to confirm delivery. I was able to find out that my car was in transit and should arrive at delivery center late tonight/early tomorrow morning and ready for weekend delivery (later than the orig scheduled tomorrow)

Is the MVPA supposed to have the VIN? Mine doesn't; I called the local sales center and they gave it to me. My Nevada contact said I would receive M3 AWD next Wednesday, but the local office had no delivery date for me.
