I feel the service is far from the level that we’re paying for
If you went to a dealer instead you would get "Can't get you white seats for love nor money Sir", when Dealer being told by manufacturer that no production capacity available / option temporarily dropped, and you'd believe them / put up with it / go elsewhere. Tesla direct sales means they only have the option to change the RRP / List, visible to all on the web. Tesla also young / naive so less experience of the markets and what they might order (if, indeed, white-seats is a more frequent choice in UK vs. USA, for example)
But, yeah, change-change-change is annoying for many. You will either buy today because they have what you want ... and tomorrow you will find that Towbar you wanted is available, or LR replaced with Performance that you wanted ... or you will find that LR that you wanted is no longer available and replaced by Performance which is too expensive for you to buy / insure ...
I assume Tesla is selling all it can make, twiddling the demand levers, and once demand dies down there will be better offers, more choice, available in the Second Wave. For anyone not in a hurry, or exactly what they want not available ... or anyone of a nervous disposition on price
it would be better to wait. We aren't exactly buying a new, out of the gate, model ... its been available in the USA for some time to have been debugged ... so its basically just "new market", but other cars that are new-model (particularly "First high volume, long range, EV" for a Brand), are having a whole series of issues all their own too ...
If you don't want to be an early adopter I think folk would be better to wait for Tesla to calm down. Every single time they have had a new model they have gouged the market for the high-value sales first (seems like a good business model for me ...) which favours anyone wanting to sit and wait for a bit.
