    Firmware 6.0

Jeez. Clock icon again. Third time in two weeks. I'm usually the last to get updates.
  2. O

    Firmware 6.0

Hmm. Update clock popped up. Just got v6 a week or so ago.
  3. O

    Firmware 5.8

Service center installed my update and I had the bug with regen. Reboot solved it.
  4. O

    Firmware 5.8

I tried that multiple times and didn't notice a difference. Now I've rebooted both screens but haven't had a chance to take a drive yet to confirm that it's fixed.

    Firmware 5.8

Brought my car in for some issues today and they loaded 5.8. Had 4.5.

battery swapping confirmed - no more "mystery" announcement

Given that what little information we have included a statement that you would be charged for the difference in value between your own battery and the one you keep if you don't return it, I'm not sure I understand your objections. If you "simply swap [your degraded battery] for a new one" you...

    Firmware 4.5

I took deliver with 4.4 a few weeks ago and still haven't received notice. These things take awhile apparently.

Has anyone gotten an aux video/audio input into the display?

Don't think it's obvious there is a video input. More likely it's a digital camera that communicates with the CPU via USB or Ethernet or the like.

Pano Roof cracked opened by itself

How does a roof open "matter-of-factly?"

Proof of Tesla's plan for battery swapping

Reboot likely not necessary as long as external power is provided during the procedure.

    Valet Mode! (confirmed by Elon)

Doesn't happen with my p85. Though I've only had it for a couple weeks and it has been warm.

    Standard 110v (?) Outlet to 240V outlet

You probably need to beef up your breaker and wiring. You don't gain much due to the existing outlet being there.
  15. O

Proof of Tesla's plan for battery swapping

Actually, it's not deficient math. This isn't like the case where you say "I'm giving 110% effort." In this case, it's just a choice of reference point. You have to pick two reference points. The bottom one (0%) seems pretty uncontroversial. So the question is the top one. It's no...

Proof of Tesla's plan for battery swapping

Hence the problem with switching to numbers. Either you have 100% be standard charge, thus providing important psychological feedback to guide people's daily behavior (but then you confuse people who think in terms of absolute soc), or you have to train people to charge at 87% under normal...

Proof of Tesla's plan for battery swapping

    Doesn't the volume go to 11? :-)

Proof of Tesla's plan for battery swapping

Just because Nissan is too dumb to understand human nature doesn't mean Elon is.
  19. O

Proof of Tesla's plan for battery swapping

Yeah, that's the mystery of it. From a human-interface perspective, it's odd to expect people to associate "87%" (or whatever) with "normal." If we're not supposed to set it to 100% as a matter of course, from a man-machine interface perspective they should change the scale so 100% is "normal"...
  20. O

Proof of Tesla's plan for battery swapping

Yes, but by calling "range charge" merely "100%," it is an implied message that it's fine to charge to that amount.
  21. O

    Valet vs. rangers

I'm not sure this does make sense. Enterprise delivers cars to you, so if they're using enterprise to provide the loaner it shouldn't be a problem. Alternatively they could arrange for a loaner to be on the flatbed that comes to you, and swap cars when the flatbed arrives (assuming it's a tesla...

    Valet vs. rangers

Some interesting points there. I'll call on monday. Just took delivery of my car a few hours ago, so I've got lots of other things to do before I resolve this. :-)
  23. O

    Valet vs. rangers

Can you explain? Seems to me that in that case, if you used the valet, you would be without YOUR car for a longer period of time (travel time for the car to and from the service center) but you'd have an equivalent (or better) car that whole time. In fact, with the valet service you'd never be...
  24. O

    Valet vs. rangers

Seems like. So why would I pay $100 per incident (or $500 for unlimited incidents) to pick ranger instead of valet? (One even more confusing wrinkle - my understanding from some other posts around here is that in some circumstances the rangers WILL "move" your car - to take it elsewhere if...
  25. O

    Valet vs. rangers

According to this: Tesla Service | Tesla Motors, no charge for valet service, but there is charge for ranger: We designed Model S to be easy to own. Routine software updates handle most issues without interrupting your life, while annual inspections ensure your car’s long-term health. Model S...

    Valet vs. rangers

My 30-day countdown begins today for purchasing a service plan. I'm now confused. Why would anyone pre-pay for ranger service given the new valet service? In other words, if they'll come bring me a loaner for free and take my car to the service center, and then replace it when done, why would...

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

Picking up MSP at factory tomorrow Ordered late December. Keeping fingers crossed that due list is short :-)

What is Tesla's upcoming 'under your nose' announcement?

The announcement is just going to be that they are upgrading the superchargers to charge 1.5x faster. Combined with musk-math (it takes 15 minutes to fill your ICE tank because you drive around 5 minutes to find the best price and then you spend 5 minutes walking into the station to prepay for...

    Firmware 4.5

100% should correspond to what is currently a standard charge. 110% should be range charge. This helps people understand that they should normally charge to standard, and that range charge is for special circumstances. If people are supposed to understand that they should normally charge to...

Interest rate from Tesla's Financing LESS than advertised

My first quote was from us bank. I told tesla I didn't like it and they got me a quote from Wells Fargo.

    Fisker Karma

I find only DESIGN (not UTILITY) patents (ie patents that cover only the appearance of things and have nothing to do with technical innovation) and a bunch of patent applications that haven't been allowed yet by the PTO. I searched for patents assigned to fisker, rather than patents where the...

    Front license plate options?

Seems that would just draw unwanted police attention to the front end. I've been driving without a front plate in northern California for 11 years and never gotten a ticket. I would be afraid to put that fake plate on.

Interest rate from Tesla's Financing LESS than advertised

How long did it take for you guys to get your offers from Wells Fargo? I got my delivery button last night so it's only been about 24 hours, but I'm just curious.

Performance Plus Package now available as option or retrofit

Maybe it's because your's is a signature? Mine is just a performance. Seems dumb to penalize sigs, but the email you got seems to imply that.

There seem to be new options for Europe. Updates no later than April 15 !!!

Really hoping they announce a plan for U.S. parking sensors soon.

Performance Plus Package now available as option or retrofit

I called (again) and they told me that although the price is no longer $6500 for 2012-price reservation holders, my car is too far along in the process and it's too late to update the configuration.
  40. O

Performance Plus Package now available as option or retrofit

I am in that situation and called. They wanted $6500.

Upset at Major Headliner Issue - Anyone notice this? (resolved)

Hmm. Hope the issue was just that your car was too close to completion by the time they changed their policy.

Guess I'll know for sure in a few weeks :-)
  43. O

Upset at Major Headliner Issue - Anyone notice this? (resolved)

So I'm confused by the current status of this. Are they going back to alacantara going forward? My car is in production for the end of this month, and I'm wondering if I have to call the reservations people and ask them what's up.

Now we just need some rear console options.
  46. O

    40kwh Model S canceled

It's pretty clear they aren't taking new orders. Read the announcement - all references to the 40kWh are past tense. e.g. "those who orderED will receive..."
  47. O

    40kwh Model S canceled

It's pretty clear that he means he has a different announcement than this and he's making it on tuesday, and that the different analysis is arguably bigger. He links to the whole announcement, not just a profitability announcement.
  48. O

    40kwh Model S canceled

Agree. But I wouldn't be surprised if some disputes about the software turn up. Someone who runs out of juice and is dead on the road might wonder exactly how the software does its math :-)
  49. O

    40kwh Model S canceled

Then you should be willing to pay for it.
  50. O

    40kwh Model S canceled

The hardware is there, but if you want to use it you need to pay and they'll turn it on.
